Elution of Artificial Sputum from Swab by Rotating Magnetic Field-Induced Mechanical Impingement

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
Cotton-tipped applicator swabs are used as a collection device for many biological samples and its complete elution is a desired step for clinical and forensic diagnostics.

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

Improved elution conditions for native co-immunoprecipitation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Native immunoprecipitation followed by protein A-mediated recovery of the immuno-complex is a powerful tool to study protein-protein interactions. A limitation of this technique is the concomitant recovery of large amounts of immunoglobulin, which ...

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

“Block D” Phenomenon in Hemolytic Disease of Fetus and Newborn: The Immunohematological Implications

open access: yesGlobal Journal of Transfusion Medicine
Background and Objectives: “Block D” in hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) is quite rare and should be evaluated meticulously. We analyzed “Block D” phenomenon in neonates with HDFN due to rhesus (Rh) incompatibilities.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

A simple method for non-denaturing purification of biotin-tagged proteins through competitive elution with free biotin

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2020
The use of avidin or streptavidin in the purification of biotinylated proteins has been highly restricted due to the harsh and denaturing elution conditions.

Synthesis of polyformals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Formals of CH2OH(CHOH) sub n CH2OH polyols (n = 2 to 4) are prepared in less than 15 minutes by heating to about 125 C, a mixture of e.g. sorbitol and paraformaldehyde in slight excess (5 to 10%), in the presence of e.g.

Association between cholesterol-phospholipid vesicles and cholesterol crystals in human gallbladder bile [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Rapid aggregation of cholesterol-phospholipid vesicles in gallbladder bile seems to be the first event in the production of cholesterol crystals, a prerequisite for cholesterol gallstone formation.
