ESTIMATION OF RADON EMANATION COEFFICIENT FOR REPRESENTATIVE SOILS IN OKINAWA, JAPAN
Radon (222Rn) emanation coefficients for the representative soils distributed in Okinawa Island, Japan, have been estimated empirically. Arithmetic means of the emanation coefficients for dry and moist conditions were calculated to be 0.19 and 0.29, respectively.

Exploring atmospheric exchange with natural tracers [PDF]
This study is focused on the application of radon (222Rn; half life time of 3.82 days) as an atmospheric tracer for evaluating the exchange of trace compounds between the land surface and the atmosphere and for understanding atmospheric mixing processes.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Theoretical Estimation of Radon Emanation Coefficients for UO2Particles Deposited on Surfaces of Uranium-bearing Wastes [PDF]
In nuclear fuel fabrication facilities, fine particles of UO2 deposit on the surfaces of walls, equipment, ventilation filters, etc. which may finally become uranium-bearing wastes when these items are removed or replaced. Radon is one progeny of uranium and emanates from those wastes.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

A method for measuring radioxenon emanation with cryotrapping and [gamma] spectroscopy
Measuring noble gas emanation has been challenged by environmental variables that greatly impact the behavior of gas transport such as temperature, pressure gradients, and complex geologies.

We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.
