Embedded foveation image coding
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2001The human visual system (HVS) is highly space-variant in sampling, coding, processing, and understanding. The spatial resolution of the HVS is highest around the point of fixation (foveation point) and decreases rapidly with increasing eccentricity.

Embedded trellis coded quantization
Proceedings DCC '98 Data Compression Conference (Cat. No.98TB100225), 2002Embedded trellis coded quantization (E-TCQ) is introduced as an embedded quantization technique which achieves good rate-distortion performance for reasonable computational complexity. The performance of E-TCQ is investigated for memoryless Gaussian, Laplacian, and uniform sources. E-TCQ is shown to outperform multi-stage TCQ.

Code compression for embedded systems
Proceedings of the 35th annual conference on Design automation conference - DAC '98, 1998Memory is one of the most restricted resources in many modern embedded systems. Code compression can provide substantial savings in terms of size. In a compressed code CPU, a cache miss triggers the decompression of a main memory block, before it gets transferred to the cache. Because the code must be decompressible starting from any point (or at least

Embedded coding of stereo images
Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.00CH37101), 2002We propose a novel algorithm for embedded stereoscopic image coding based on the hierarchical decomposition of stereo information. The proposed scheme is endowed with excellent progressive transmission capability and retains the option for perfect reconstruction of the original image pair.

Embedding interface sketches in code
Proceedings of the 24th annual ACM symposium adjunct on User interface software and technology, 2011This paper presents a user interface (UI) design tool, GUIIO, which uses ASCII text as its medium for rendering interface components. Like other UI design tools, GUIIO allows individuals to create and manipulate UI components as first-class objects. However, GUIIO has the advantage that its UI designs can be embedded directly within the program code ...

Compressing code for embedded systems
2014 21st IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS), 2014The size of the embedded software is increasing at a rapid pace. Often, the task of designing hardware that meets a lot of functionality needed in software became a challenging process and it needs more time for projecting. Then, the compression code is a way to reduce this problem.

Special purpose embedded languages facilitate generating high-performance code from purely functional high-level code; for example, we want to program highly parallel GPUs without the usual high barrier to entry and the time-consuming development process.

Embedded Trellis Coded Quantization for JPEG2000
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2008A modified embedded trellis coded quantization (TCQ) for JPEG2000 is presented in this paper. The method for approximately inverting TCQ in the absence of the least significant bits is improved. Experimental results, presented using the optimal rate control algorithm and different embedded TCQ formulations, show that modified embedded TCQ yields ...

Code compression for ARM7 embedded systems
2007 18th European Conference on Circuit Theory and Design, 2007A detailed analysis of different code compression algorithms is provided in this paper. The performances of the algorithms have been tested on ARM codes whose size is below 32 KB. Code compression performances have been considered including the compression overheads due to the decoding tables, to the alignment and to the tables for random access to the

Analyzing CS1 Student Code Using Code Embeddings
Proceedings of the 51st ACM Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education, 2020We present a machine learning model to obtain vector representations of student code submissions for a CS1 programming problem. These vectorembeddings can be used to compare code, cluster code submissions, and identify errors. We hope to use these embeddings to identify conceptual misunderstandings in student code.
