Embedded block coding in JPEG2000

Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.00CH37101), 2000
This paper describes the embedded block coding algorithm at the heart of the JPEG2000 image compression standard. The algorithm achieves excellent compression performance, usually somewhat higher than that of SPIHT with arithmetic coding, but in some cases substantially higher.

On the redundancy of embedded codes

Proceedings of the 1999 IEEE Information Theory and Communications Workshop (Cat. No. 99EX253), 2003
The authors analyze redundancy, as a function of the block length of successive refinement codes. It turns out that an extra rate of O(logn/2n) must be paid for each stage of code.

Code Generation from Supervised Code Embeddings

2019
Code generation, which generates source code from natural language, is beneficial for constructing smarter Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), retrieving code more effectively and so on. Traditional approaches are based on matching similar code snippets, and recently researchers pay more attention to machine learning, especially the encoder ...

Code compression and runtime code decompression in embedded systems

2012 7th IEEE International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics (SACI), 2012
The paper describes a method for compression of functions code located in non-volatile memory of an embedded system after the link/locate phase, decompression of these functions before executed in volatile memory of the embedded system and execution of these decompressed functions by the embedded system[3]. The idea is not focused on compression method

Embedding channel coding in arithmetic coding

IEE Proceedings - Communications, 1999
An arithmetic coding algorithm that incorporates channel coding is presented. For a source alphabet with m symbols, the selected m code points over the [0-1) interval have a desired minimum Hamming distance d/sub min/ between them. The decoder utilises this d/sub min/ in conjunction with the self-synchronisation property of arithmetic coding and ...

Data embedding in scalable coded video

2017 Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA ASC), 2017
In this paper, a self-cancelling method is proposed to embed data into multiple layers of a spatial scalable coded video. Correlation of prediction mode from multiple layers are analyzed and exploited to offset the distortion introduced at the base layer(BL) when embedding data at the enhancement layer (EL).

Trellis-coded 8PSK with embedded QPSK

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1989
A coded eight-phase-shift-keying (C8PSK) method is described that is characterized by a quaternary phase-shift-keyed signal embedded in the modulated sequence. This method is a double-trellis-coded modification of the well-known C8PSK and is referred to as MC8PSK. Five coded bits are generated from four user bits in a single coding step and then mapped

Embedded RPE based on multistage coding

IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing, 1997
The feasibility and performance of an embedded regular pulse excited speech coder (ERPE) based on multistage coding is investigated. The simulated ERPE system exhibits a graceful reduction of reconstructed speech quality for bit rates from 14.8 to 6.4 kb/s in 4.2 kb/s steps, and carries a very small signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) penalty compared to its ...

Diversity Embedded Space–Time Codes

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2008
Rate and diversity impose a fundamental tradeoff in wireless communication. High-rate space-time codes come at a cost of lower reliability (diversity), and high reliability (diversity) implies a lower rate. However, wireless networks need to support applications with very different quality-of-service (QoS) requirements, and it is natural to ask what ...

The Embedded Design of Barcode Coding and Display

Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Intelligent Information Processing, 2019
People have already got the habit of scanning code nowadays. In order to provide an efficient barcode-scanning function for the traditional equipment, an embedded barcode coding and display device was designed. System structure, hardware and software of the design were described in this paper. A Cortex-A9 core MCU is applied to the hardware.
