MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

Discrete elastic parameters for lattice fracture model with embedded discontinuities

open access: yes, 2022
This work presents a lattice fracture model [1-3] with a choice of parameters that lead to correct elastic continuum response. This choice of elastic parameters is important for post peak softening behaviour of the model, where correct stiffness of the model influence fracture propagation.

Consistent treatment of shear failure in embedded discrete fracture models using XFVM

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 2023
AbstractUnderstanding deformations and fluid flow in fractured rocks is of central importance for many subsurface flow applications. Thus, numerical frameworks are needed that capture the coupled mechanical and hydraulic behaviour, including scenarios with complex fracture networks.

Numerical Simulation Study on Wormhole Propagation Morphology in Fractured Carbonate Rocks during Acidizing [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Carbonate reservoirs are key targets for global oil and gas exploration, accounting for more than 50% of both reserves and production. However, due to the widespread existence of fractures, vugs, and strong heterogeneity in these reservoirs, they are ...

Photo‐Rewritable Ambipolar Organic Electrochemical Synapses with Bidirectional Optical Plasticity for Adaptive Vision in Aqueous Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Photo‐rewritable ambipolar organic synapses operating in aqueous environments at low voltage (≤0.4 V) demonstrate bidirectional optical plasticity through photon‐modulated electrochemical doping. The bulk heterojunction device enables both excitatory and inhibitory responses with extended retention time (>130 min).

Digital Microneedles for Multiplexed Transdermal Sensing via Fluorescent QR Codes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Digital fluorescent microneedles encode biochemical information in skin into scannable QR codes through threshold‐activated probes that generate binary on/off signals. By transforming analog fluorescence into discrete digital patterns, this platform enables calibration‐free, multiplexed transdermal sensing of physiologically relevant biomarkers ...
