An embedded tactile and force sensor for robotic manipulation and grasping

5th IEEE-RAS International Conference on Humanoid Robots, 2005., 2006
A new fully embedded tactile/force sensor system is presented. The sensor has been designed to be installed on a dextrous robot gripper (MAC-HAND). The tactile sensor consists of a matrix of 64 electrodes, etched on a flexible PCB covered by a conductive rubber layer. The force sensor is an off-the-shelf integrated three components micro-joystick.

Force embedding of a planar graph

Proceedings of 26th Southeastern Symposium on System Theory, 2002
The planar embedding of a planar graph with the simultaneous minimization of an objective function of graph edge lengths is considered. It is shown that the so-called force embedding of a planar graph dictates a distinctive placement of the graph vertices and edges. This placement is a rectilinear edge embedding in which there are no edge intersections

Hydrodynamic Forces on a Pipeline With Uneven Embedment

Volume 3: Pipeline and Riser Technology, 2012
Hydrodynamic forces on a pipeline with uneven embedment on either side, subject to oscillatory flow, are investigated numerically. Two-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations with a k-ω turbulent model are solved to simulate the flow in the fluid. It is assumed the seepage flow in the seabed is governed by Darcy’s law and Laplace equation

Shear waves generated with magnetomotive force on an embedded sphere

2014 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2014
The characterization of the material properties of tissue and tissue mimicking materials has been is an important area of study to develop methods for elasticity imaging. Many methods utilize acoustic radiation force to produce shear waves and to extract elastic or viscoelastic properties of the medium by measuring the propagation of the shear waves ...

Longitudinal force on an embedded filament

Applied Scientific Research, 1968
A thin elastic filament embedded in an elastic medium is subjected to a concentrated longitudinal load. For two-dimensional geometry and a relatively stiff filament the application of the load gives rise to a system of wedge-like and cylindrical waves. The dynamic shear stresses at the interface of the filament and the matrix, and in the region of the ...

Embedded Media - A Force Multiplier or Force Divider

2006
Abstract : The American public has a right to know how its nation's treasures are expended. The reinvigoration of the embedded media program during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF) was implemented to accomplish just this mission. Embedded media participated in unprecedented numbers during OIF.

Forcing Superposition and Decomposition of an Embedded Compressor Rotor

Volume 7B: Structures and Dynamics, 2017
This paper investigates superposition and decomposition methods when determining the forcing function on an embedded rotor in a multistage axial compressor. Under investigation is a 3-row stator/rotor/stator configuration where two stators, having the same vane count, can be circumferentially clocked to change the rotor excitation. The combined forcing

Integration for the next generation: embedding force control into industrial robots.

IEEE Robotics Autom. Mag., 2005
An overview is given of interaction control schemes tested in a number of experiments for representative interaction tasks. A commercially available industrial robot is used to demonstrate the credibility of force control in the perspective of the next generation of robot control units with enhanced sensory feedback capabilities.

Takens embedding theorems for forced and stochastic systems

Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 1997
The main purpose of their paper is to extend Takens's Embedding theorem both to deterministically forced systems and to stochastic systems, which are more present in the researchers' attention than the deterministic systems. The study begins with an overall description of the usual framework for studying time series generated by deterministic dynamical

Inclined Pulout Forces for Embedded Plate Anchors

Offshore Technology Conference, 1975
ABSTRACT Laboratory model pullout tests were conducted in a "rod analogy" soil model, dense dry sand, dense submerged sand, and Gulf of Mexico marine sediments at pullout inclination angles from 900 (vertical) to 450 and at two burial depths.
