Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Experimental and Numerical Modal Analysis of Composite Sandwich Structures Using Surfboards as Model Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...

Evolving Embedded Systems

Computer, 2010
Embedded systems pose special challenges to system evolution: they're embedded in a changing environment, often interacting with evolving processes of human organizations, and thus must be verified because of their critical nature. Complicating the situation, the analyses and testing regimens used to verify them must evolve as well.

Embedding security in wireless embedded systems

16th International Conference on VLSI Design, 2003. Proceedings., 2003
We present an overview of how the need for security will impact the design of embedded systems and the ICs they contain. After a brief introduction to security, we discuss the challenges security processing poses to embedded system architects, integrators, HW designers, and SW engineers.

Embedded system design

Design Automation for Embedded Systems, 1996
In the past decade the main engine of electronic design automation has been the widespread application of ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits). Present technology supports complete systems on a chip, most often used as so-called embedded systems in an increasing number of applications.

Dispatching in embedded systems

2016 5th Mediterranean Conference on Embedded Computing (MECO), 2016
It is shown that the problem of evaluation of states both object and controller arises at digital control. In multi-circuit embedded systems time intervals of residence of system in any state depends on both time complexity of control algorithm and dispatching discipline.

Embedded system security

Computer, 2004
From cars to cell phones, video equipment to MP3 players, and dishwashers to home thermostats - embedded computers increasingly permeate our lives. But security for these systems is an open question and could prove a more difficult long-term problem than security does today for desktop and enterprise computing.

Generative Programming for Embedded Systems

Proceedings of the 4th ACM SIGPLAN international conference on Principles and practice of declarative programming, 2002
Composition and component-based design are key tools of modern software engineering for managing complexity. The concept of component-based design is straightforward: systems are built by composing software components with precisely defined interfaces using standardized interconnection mechanisms.

Rate analysis for embedded systems

ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems, 1998
Embedded systems consist of interacting components that are required to deliver a specific functionality under constraints on execution rates and relative time separation of the components. In this article, we model an embedded system using concurrent processes interacting through synchronization.
