Complexity, frequency, and acceptability

open access: yesGlossa
It is sometimes argued that (certain types of) lexical frequency and constructional frequency determine how easy sentences are to process and hence, how acceptable speakers find them. Others have argued that grammatical principles interact with and often

Embedded with the World: Place, Displacement, and Relocation in Recent British and Postcolonial Fiction

open access: yesÉtudes Britanniques Contemporaines, 2018
This essay focuses on the role ‘geographical sensibility’ (Robert D. Kaplan) plays in recent developments in British and Anglophone fiction. These changes, I argue, align themselves with other, cognate transformations that appear to be indicative of a ...

Germline variants in CDKN2A wild‐type melanoma prone families

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Among melanoma‐prone families, wild‐type for CDKN2A and CDK4, some have pathogenic variants in genes not usually linked to melanoma. Furthermore, rare XP‐related variants and variants in MC1R are enriched in such families. Germline pathogenic variants in CDKN2A are well established as an underlying cause of familial malignant melanoma. While pathogenic

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Digraph embedding

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2001
AbstractAn upward embedding of a digraph (directed graph) on the plane or a surface is an embedding of its underlying graph so that all directed edges are monotonic and point to a fixed direction. Such embedding in some literatures is called upward drawing without crossing of edges.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

PDEC: A Framework for Improving Knowledge Graph Reasoning Performance through Predicate Decomposition

open access: yesAlgorithms
The judicious configuration of predicates is a crucial but often overlooked aspect in the field of knowledge graphs. While previous research has primarily focused on the precision of triples in assessing knowledge graph quality, the rationality of ...

On Variable Exponent Amalgam Spaces

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2012
We derive some of the basic properties of weighted variable exponent Lebesgue spaces Lp(.)w (ℝn) and investigate embeddings of these spaces under some conditions.

MET and NF2 alterations confer primary and early resistance to first‐line alectinib treatment in ALK‐positive non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

Towards a comprehensive visualisation of structure in large scale data sets

open access: yesMachine Learning: Science and Technology
Dimensionality reduction methods are fundamental to the exploration and visualisation of large data sets. Basic requirements for unsupervised data exploration are flexibility and scalability.
