Fibers beyond structure: do they contribute to embolism reversal after drought relief in poplar?

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Short‐term recovery from drought‐induced vessel embolism is an energy‐dependent biological process that requires a water source and solutes, both likely supplied by parenchyma cells. Despite fibers primarily providing structural support, their functional role as a reservoir of unbound water during and after stress remains unclear. In this study,

Unraveling water pathways and sources in leafless maples during early spring sap ascent

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Maple trees repair cold‐induced embolism by generating positive stem pressure during their leafless state, altering sap transport in ways that remain poorly understood. This xylem pressure also drives sap exudation, enabling maple sap harvest for syrup production.

Incidence of Pseudoaneurysms After Third Molar Extractions: A Systematic Review With a Proposed Algorithm of Treatment

open access: yesOral Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose The objective of this study is to systematically evaluate the existing evidence on the prevalence and incidence of pseudoaneurysms following third molar extractions. Methods The study protocol was developed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analysis Protocols, and it was registered with ...

Greater Resistance to Drought‐Induced Embolism Is Linked to Higher Yield Maintenance in Soybean

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With increasing drought events worldwide, crop breeding must focus on drought resistance to maintain crop yields. To ensure a high level of gas exchange and growth, plants need to maintain the integrity of their vascular system under drought conditions. While the impact of drought‐induced vascular damage on tree species is well‐documented, its
