Transcatheter embolization of pancreatic arteriovenous malformation associated with recurrent acute pancreatitis

open access: yesIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging, 2016
Pancreatic arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is extremely rare; even rarer is its association with pancreatitis. The authors report a case of PAVM causing recurrent episodes of acute pancreatitis in a 46-year-old male.

A low‐cost protocol for the optical method of vulnerability curves to calculate P50

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise The quantification of plant drought resistance, particularly embolism formation, within and across species, is critical for ecosystem management and agriculture. We developed a cost‐effective protocol to measure the water potential at which 50% of hydraulic conductivity (P50) is lost in stems, using affordable and accessible materials ...

Pyogenic liver abscess in non‐liver cancer patients and liver cancer patients treated with TACE: Etiological characteristics, treatment, and outcome analysis

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, Volume 39, Issue 1, Page 87-94, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Clinical, laboratory, and microbiological features, clinical outcomes, and pyogenic liver abscess (PLA) prognosis evaluation in non‐liver cancer (Non‐LC) and liver cancer patients treated with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE, LC‐TACE). Clinical data of 48 consecutive PLA patients from January 2016 to December 2020 were retrospectively ...

Endovascular treatment of ruptured pica aneurysms and association with its extradural origin: A single-center experience

open access: yesIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging, 2018
Background: Posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) like other intracranial arteries is prone to aneurysm formation. Aneurysms usually arise from the vertebral artery (VA)—PICA junction and the proximal segment of the PICA.

Autologous Nonmyeloablative Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Diffuse Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis: Identifying Disease Risk Factors for Toxicity and Long‐Term Outcomes in a Prospective, Single‐Arm Trial

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Two randomized trials for patients with diffuse systemic sclerosis (SSc) demonstrated an overall survival (OS) and event‐free survival (EFS) advantage of autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) using CD34+ selected peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs) compared with monthly cyclophosphamide (CY).

Indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence in robotic hepatobiliary surgery: A systematic review

open access: yesThe International Journal of Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery, Volume 19, Issue 1, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Indocyanine green fluorescence (ICG‐F) stains hepatic tumours and delineates vascular and biliary structures in real‐time. We detail the efficacy of ICG‐F in robotic hepatobiliary surgery. Methods PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central were searched for original articles and meta‐analyses detailing the outcomes of ICG ...

Delivery of Liquid Metal to the Target Vessels as Vascular Embolic Agent to Starve Diseased Tissues or Tumors to Death [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Tumor growth relies heavily on the continuous blood and nutrients supply. Theoretically, it is an ideal therapeutic way of killing tumor by only vascular embolization. However, most of the existing vascular embolic agents are still rather insufficient to fulfill the real clinical need due to the reasons like: incomplete filling of target vasculature ...
