Abstract Over the past two decades, gondola lifts have become central to interventions in urban Latin America's auto‐constructed peripheries. As cable car urbanism reshapes the city's edge, it raises fundamental questions about the notion of the “urban fabric” as a sociomaterial practice, an epistemology, and a site of politics.

Beyond Brunhild: reassessing women in the Fredegar Chronicle
Scholarly consideration of women in the seventh‐century Fredegar chronicle has long been dominated by the author’s hostility towards Brunhild, queen of Austrasia. Statistical analysis of Latin world chronicles before ad 900, however, shows that Fredegar’s representation of women was unusually high within this tradition.

Abstract Within 2 days of Russia's full‐scale invasion of Ukraine, a single word—palianytsia, a Ukrainian round loaf—became a phonetic test separating Ukrainians from Russians. The article traces how a culinary term was enregistered as a wartime shibboleth that structurally marks the very citizens it was meant to protect as enemies.
