Embryo secretome in predicting embryo quality and IVF treatment outcome

open access: yesReproductive BioMedicine Online
In IVF treatment, accurate prediction of embryo quality and successful embryo implantation are critical challenges. Recent research has highlighted the importance of the embryo secretome, the collection of molecules secreted by the embryo into the culture medium, in assessing embryo quality as a non-invasive preimplantation testing platform.

Interferon beta drives therapy resistance in a patient‐derived model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Interferon type 1 (IFN‐1) production and signaling is associated with the acquisition of therapy resistance, following chronic DNA damage, via Interferon‐related DNA damage resistance signature (IRDS) gene expression. An alternative, DNA damage‐independent role of sustained IFN‐1 mediated resistance was identified and characterized by the emergence of ...

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

A Comprehensive Comparison of PICSI and ICSI Techniques Through a Triple-Blinded Trial: Effects on Embryo Quality, Cumulative Pregnancy Rate, and Live Birth Rate. [PDF]

open access: yesBiomedicines
Background: Sperm selection is critical in assisted reproduction, typically relying on swim-up and centrifugation density gradients. New methods, such as PICSI (physiological intracytoplasmic sperm selection), aim to enhance outcomes by selecting mature ...

Effect of conjugated linoleic acid on embryo quality in New Zealand rabbits

open access: yesWorld Rabbit Science
One of the main challenges in commercial rabbit production is the high nutritional demands in primiparous females, which, together with their limited intake capacity, reduces their body fat stores and could be partly responsible for their low ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Thyroid ultrasonic changes relate to implantation failure in euthyroid women with thyroid autoimmunity undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection

open access: yesGynecological Endocrinology
Objective To determine whether ultrasonic manifestations of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) related to embryo qualities or pregnancy outcomes in women with thyroid autoimmunity (TAI) undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection. Methods

Practical Methods to Assess Mammalian Embryo Quality – Staining Tests Comparative Study

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
Embryo assessment methods changed during the last 20 years. Morphological criteria used for embryo quality assessment improved in order to increase the selection probability of the most suitable embryos for transfer.
