Concentration of stromal cell‐derived factor‐1 (SDF‐1/CXCL12) in the follicular fluid is associated with blastocyst development

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, 2019
Purpose To study the association between stromal cell‐derived factor‐1 (SDF‐1/CXCL12) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) concentrations in individual human ovarian follicles and IVF outcomes.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Prior COVID-19 infection increases degenerated oocytes but does not affect IVF outcomes: a prospective cohort study

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundThe global health crisis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to impact people of all age groups worldwide. Recent studies increasingly support that COVID-19 infection may affect reproductive function, causing subfertility and ...

Relationship between embryo quality and aneuploidies

open access: yesReproductive BioMedicine Online, 2006
Many high-grade embryos selected for transfer according to their morphological evaluation were detected to have chromosomal abnormalities after aneuploidy screening for infertility by preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). The aim of this study was to detect if there is any correlation between embryo quality and genetic status. The chromosomal status

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

The use of autologous platelet-rich plasma in embryo culture to obtain high-quality embryos

open access: yesScientific Reports
Transferring high-quality embryos is crucial for in vitro fertilization success, as they lead to better clinical pregnancy and live birth outcomes.

Early embryo cleavage is a strong indicator of embryo quality in human IVF [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Reproduction, 2001
In order to decrease multiple birth rates without decreasing birth rates overall, it is important to increase the capability of selecting the most optimal embryos for transfer. It has been shown that human embryos which cleave early, i.e. complete the first mitotic division within 25-27 h post insemination, provide higher pregnancy and implantation ...

Cytokines in culture media of preimplantation embryos during in vitro fertilization: Impact on embryo quality

open access: yes, 2021
Cytokine support of embryonic development includes promotion of implantation and protection of blastomeres from cell stress and apoptosis. Correlations between embryo quality and concentrations of specific cytokines in culture media of human embryos have
