Effects of Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Derived Exosomes on Lung Inflammation in a Murine Aspiration Model

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This study assessed the effect of intravenous MSC‐derived exosomes on inflammatory lung injury in a rat model of LPS aspiration. Compared with LPS alone, MSC exosome treatment reduced histologic lung injury overall (significant group effect p = 0.02; linear trend p = 0.006) and significantly lowered Tnf gene expression on qRT‐PCR (p < 0.05).

Dengue and Zika virus NS4B proteins differ in topology and in determinants of ER membrane protein complex dependency

open access: yesJournal of Virology
Flaviviruses utilize the cellular endoplasmic reticulum (ER) for all aspects of their lifecycle. Genome replication and other viral activities take place in structures called replication organelles (ROs), which are invaginations induced in the ER ...

Wasting syndrome as a predictive factor for adverse health outcomes in older adults: A prospective cohort study

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Wasting syndrome (WS), also known as unintentional weight loss, is defined as a 5% reduction in body weight over a period of 6–12 months. The mortality associated with WS in older adults has not been adequately explored. The objective of this study was to investigate this relationship in hospitalized older individuals over an 18‐month period ...

An interdisciplinary review of the interplay of conflict, socio‐economic factors, and land cover and vegetation dynamics in Colombia

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Colombia's forests play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity and mitigating climate change, but they are currently facing severe degradation, particularly after the 2016 Peace Agreement. Our literature review highlights a growing research interest in this topic and demonstrates how interdisciplinary approaches combining diverse methods can enhance

Comparison of Recycled Polypropylene Sourced From Food and Nonfood Applications for Direct Food Contact Use

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
Utilisation of postconsumer recycled (PCR) plastic for food contact has safety concerns due to the potential presence of unapproved intentionally/non‐intentionally added substances, which can pose health and environmental risks if not removed during recycling.

All‐sky assimilation impacts of the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder constellation on global weather forecasts

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Key Findings: An assimilation methodology is established for the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder (TMS) flying on CubeSats in sun‐synchronous and inclined orbits, and in all cloud scenes. The TMS has a significant impact on weather forecast lead times up to 3 days in the Tropics in a research‐quality numerical weather prediction setting, and yields water ...

Electrolyte‐Controlled Stripping Behavior of Electroplated Lithium Toward Efficient Lithium Metal Anodes

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Lithium stripping is governed by electrolyte‐dependent evolution of the solid–electrolyte interphase (SEI). Using correlative electron microscopy and electrochemical analysis, this study reveals that spatial heterogeneity in SEI thickness dictates stripping pathways and current‐density‐dependent reversibility.
