Overcrowding in emergency departments: strategies and solutions for an effective reorganization
Overcrowding in emergency departments (EDs) is a common and worldwide phenomenon, widely reported even by the non-specialist press. It contributes to a number of consequences that can affect both the number of resources available and the quality of care.

Outcomes of Crowding in Emergency Departments; a Systematic Review.
Emergency Department (ED) crowding is a global public health phenomenon affecting access and quality of care. In this study, we seek to conduct a systematic review concerning the challenges and outcomes of ED crowding. This systematic review utilized original research articles published from 1st January 2007, to 1st January 2019.

Graphene‐Engineered Rear Interfaces Enable Efficient Flexible CZTSSe Solar Cells on Metal Foils
An atomically thin graphene interlayer stabilizes the rear interface of flexible CZTSSe solar cells by regulating interfacial stress, suppressing detrimental interfacial reactions, and reducing the back‐contact barrier. This strategy simultaneously improves photovoltaic performance and mechanical durability.

Emergency Department Boarding, Crowding, and Error
Emergency department (ED) crowding and boarding have become a public health emergency. Independently, each is associated with morbidity and mortality, but what remains to be elucidated is whether there is an association between these 2 instances and a departmental error.

Switching Spike Plasticity Shapes ACE2 Engagement Across SARS‐CoV‐2 Variants
Conformational plasticity governs SARS‐CoV‐2 spike function and ACE2 recognition. Using high‐speed AFM and single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we analyzed the ancestral spike and nine variants, revealing progressive rigidification from Delta, variable plasticity in Omicron sublineages, and JN.1 compaction.

Perceptions of Emergency Department Crowding in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania [PDF]
The state of emergency department (ED) crowding in Pennsylvania has not previously been reported. We assessed perceptions of ED crowding by surveying medical directors/chairs from Pennsylvania EDs in the spring of 2008.A total of 106 completed the questionnaire (68% response rate).

α‐Synuclein Forms Distinct Micelle‐Like Assemblies at Low Ionic Strengths
At high ionic strength, α‐synuclein forms diverse assemblies, including oligomers, fibrils, and condensates. Here, we show that at low ionic strength, α‐synuclein adopts a distinct, low‐abundance assembly state. These assemblies maintain a constant size above a critical concentration and do not coalesce, suggesting a micelle‐like organization ...

Phase separation of SF3B1 acts as a key regulatory mechanism for dynamic alternative splicing throughout early mouse embryogenesis. Its absence triggers extensive splicing errors, which induce persistent DNA damage, defective cell cycle progression, and failed cell lineage commitment, and ultimately hinder the normal growth and development of ...
