Role of serotonin in emesis.

There are now abundant evidence to confirm the role of serotonin (5-HT) and in particular, 5-HT3 receptors in the control of cisplatin-induced emesis. Emesis caused by cisplatin is associated with an increase in the concentration of 5-HT in the intestinal mucosa and in the area postrema.
