Occurrence characteristics of electromagnetic ion cyclotron waves at sub-auroral Antarctic station Maitri during solar cycle 24

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2020
We present a statistical study of electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves observed at Antarctic station (geographic $$70.7{^\circ }\,\hbox {S}$$ 70.7 ∘ S , $$11.8{^\circ }\,\hbox {E}$$ 11.8 ∘ E , $$L=5$$ L = 5 ) on quiet and disturbed days during 2011–

Exploring Belonging Through the Student Union: The Power of Familiar Faces and Comfortable Spaces

open access: yesNew Directions for Higher Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since their origin, college unions have played a significant role in fostering a sense of belonging and advancing the academic mission of colleges. However, published empirical studies remain scarce due to the focus of college union professionals’ work on both student development and facility operations.

More than proteins for empty stomachs: Wild meat in the BaTonga food system

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Our paper highlights the limitations of the framework used by many conservation‐focused programmes that incorporate food security objectives. This framework encourages the substitution of wild proteins with domestic proteins by promoting animal farming in communities located near conservation areas.

Mechanical, Thermal, and Microstructural Evaluation of Bio‐Based Polyurethane Composites Reinforced With Woven Jute and Flax

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Graphical overview of the manufacturing and characterization of bio‐based polyurethane composites reinforced with woven jute and flax fibers produced by the VARTM process. Mechanical, thermal, and microstructural analyses reveal differences in stiffness, thermal stability, and interfacial behavior between the natural fiber composites.

Poly(Hydroxybutyrate‐Co‐Hydroxyvalerate)/Thermoplastic Starch Blends for Application in Biodegradable Mulch Films

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate)/thermoplastic starch blends, produced by melt processing, showed improvements in mechanical properties and water vapor transmission barrier performance, which can help control excessive water evaporation from the soil, thus contributing to pH and moisture regulation.

How Might Positionality Be Used in Biblical Studies? Philippians 1:27–2:4 as an Example

open access: yesReligions
Using Philippians 1:27–2:4 as an example, this article will explore the role of positionality in biblical studies. Although the process of reflecting on one’s positionality is more prevalent in empirical-based research, one’s positionality is also ...

Connecting tradition and technology: The digitization of the ethnobotanical collection at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
The digitization of RBetno (JBRJ) represents a step forward for biodiversity conservation in Brazil. Aligned with the Kunming‐Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (Target 2, 2020–2030), this project documents the use of plants, including traditional knowledge and vernacular names, with a focus on the Atlantic Forest and Amazon.
