Diffusion MRI and α‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Status in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 100, Issue 2, Page 295-304, August 2026.
Objective Positive α‐synuclein seed amplification assay (SAA) is a biomarker found in most people with Parkinson's disease (PD). We explored if free‐water (FW) imaging detects microstructural differences in the brains of patients with early PD with SAA+ or SAA– status.

Extending Field Limits in Nanoscale Magnetic Imaging With Metamaterial‐Inspired Magnetic Flux Concentrators

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 43, 3 August 2026.
Micrometer‐sized flower‐shaped metamaterial magnetic flux concentrators are fabricated directly around nano and micromagnetic samples, enabling local field enhancement. Integrated into magnetic sensitive photoemission electron microscopy, they extend the available magnetic field range by up to a factor of five.

Cavernicolous Oniscidea of Romania

open access: yesTravaux de l'Institut de Speologie Emile Racovitza, 2013
35 species of cavernicolous Oniscidea inhabit the caves of Romania. A remarkable aspect of the oniscidean fauna is the high number of endemic species.

Eocene to Miocene U‐Pb Geochronology Evolution of the Rio Grande Rise, Southwestern Atlantic: A Paleoceanographic Approach

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 41, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The Rio Grande Rise (RGR) is a major submarine feature in the South Atlantic that plays an important role in regional oceanographic dynamics. This study presents new U‐Pb geochronology of sedimentary rocks from the RGR, offering direct age constraints on carbonate and apatite embedded within Fe‐Mn crusts and associated foraminifera fossils ...

Groundwater contamination and the relationship between water chemistry and biotic components in a karst system (Bihor Mountains, Romania)

open access: yesTravaux de l'Institut de Speologie Emile Racovitza, 2014
The physical and chemical characteristics, microbial contamination, and meiofauna of the Ocoale-Gheţar-Dobreşti karst system (Bihor Mountains, Romania) were studied in order to assess the natural water quality by an interdisciplinary study. A total of 60

Pufferfish exposure and presumed tetrodotoxicosis in Australian dogs: 372 cases (2007–2018)

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 104, Issue 8, Page 497-508, August 2026.
Introduction Tetrodotoxin (TTX) is a neurotoxin found in pufferfish that results in the blockade of excitatory conduction and clinical signs including gastrointestinal upset and paralysis. The objectives of this study were to describe the epidemiology of pufferfish exposure and presumed tetrodotoxicosis in dogs, and to determine associations with the ...

Glomeruloid haemangioma in Erdheim–Chester disease: An atypical skin manifestation associated with elevated vascular endothelial growth factor‐A levels

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, Volume 209, Issue 2, Page 755-759, August 2026.
Glomeruloid haemangiomas and extensive angiomas occurred in a small subset of Erdheim–Chester disease patients, all showing markedly elevated vascular endothelial growth factor‐A (VEGF‐A) levels despite the absence of POEMS (polyneuropathy, organomegaly, M‐spike, and skin disease) syndrome.
