Correction of UBV Photometry for Emission Lines
We investigate the effect on U,B,V magnitudes of the removal of emission lines from the spectra of some symbiotic stars and novae during their nebular phases.

The physics and chemistry of circumstellar envelopes of S-stars on the AGB
The S-stars have been suggested to be a brief transitional phase as stars evolve from oxygen-rich M-type stars into carbon stars, through the dredge up of carbon from He-shell burning.

Chromospherically Active Stars in the RAVE Survey. I. The Catalogue [PDF]
RAVE, the unbiased magnitude limited survey of the southern sky stars, contained 456,676 medium-resolution spectra at the time of our analysis. Spectra cover the CaII IRT range which is a known indicator of chromospheric activity.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Comparing Be Star Inclination Angles Determined from Hα Fitting and Gravitational Darkening
Using a sample of 92 Galactic Be stars, we compare inclination angles (the angle between a star’s rotation axis and the line of sight) determined from H α emission-line profile fitting to those determined by the spectroscopic signature of gravitational ...

Star Clusters in Quasars: Bloated Stars as Broad Emission Line Clouds [PDF]
Many scenarios of the evolution of star clusters in the centers of galaxies involve the formation of a central supermassive object. Since black hole formation is not 100% efficient in mass usage, stars are left over. This paper investigates the properties of such stars and proposes that their externally heated atmospheres become “bloated” due to ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

First JWST/NIRSpec Spectroscopy of O Stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud
Determining how much mass is removed by stellar winds is crucial to understanding massive star evolution and feedback. However, traditional spectroscopic diagnostics in the UV and optical are not sensitive enough to characterize weak stellar winds of OB ...

Exploring the Variability of Three Be Stars with TESS Observations
Be stars are rapidly rotating B-type stars surrounded by circumstellar disks formed from self-ejected material. Understanding the mechanisms driving mass ejection and disk formation, known as the Be phenomenon, requires a detailed investigation of their ...
