Year-Round N2O Emissions From Long-Term Applications of Whole and Separated Liquid Dairy Slurry on a Perennial Grass Sward and Strategies for Mitigation

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2019
Dairy farms need to improve their environmental performance to justify continued consumption of dairy products. Previous studies have demonstrated improved re-use of dairy slurry nitrogen (N) and phosphorous (P) by separating solid and liquid fractions ...

The effect of differentiated emission taxes: does an emission tax favor industry? [PDF]

open access: yes
Extending a standard 2x2 Heckscher-Ohlin model to incorporate emissions, this paper investigates the effect of differentiated emission taxes on output and emissions in a small open economy. The following results are derived.

Tumour‐proximal deep serum proteomics identifies biomarkers associated with ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
New biomarkers are needed for early ovarian cancer detection. Ovarian (tumour‐proximal) and peripheral vein serum from healthy women and patients with benign or malignant tumours underwent nanoparticle‐enriched deep proteomics. Ovarian serum yielded more protein identifications and revealed tumour‐reflective signatures.

ON THE RATE-EQUATIONS OF SEMICONDUCTOR-LASERS FOR MEASURING SPONTANEOUS EMISSION FACTOR

open access: yes, 1995
The rate equations used for measuring spontaneous emission factor beta is examined through the comparison of numerical results, The results show that beta obtained by using total spontaneous emission rate R(sp) = N/tau sp is about double of that using R ...

Nodal Carbon Emission Factor Prediction for Power Systems Based on MDBO-CNN-LSTM

open access: yes
Carbon emission estimation for power systems is essential for identifying emission responsibilities and formulating effective mitigation measures. Current carbon emission prediction methods for power systems exhibit limited computational efficiency and ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

On the Use of Average versus Marginal Emission Factors

open access: yesProceedings of the 8th International Conference on Smart Cities and Green ICT Systems, 2019
In this paper, we propose using marginal emission factors instead of average emission factors for determining the impact of adding variable renewable electricity to the generation mix. Average emission factors assume constant emissions over time, which does not reflect reality. Therefore, they cannot be used for e.g.

Characterizing Emissions from Agricultural Diesel Pumps in the Terai Region of Nepal

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
Diesel irrigation pumps are a source of air pollution in the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP). The environmental implications of these pumps are often overlooked and very rarely addressed in the IGP.

The Influence of Agroclimatic Factors on Soil CO2 Emissions

open access: yesCollegium antropologicum, 2014
There has been a significant increase of atmospheric greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations since industrial revolution till nowadays. Approximately 10% of total GHG emissions in Croatia belong to the agricultural sector. In this sector, one part of CO2 is released from soil by soil respiration (soil CO2 efflux).
