Two-particle emission from LiF(1 0 0) upon photon, electron and positron excitation

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2009
Electron pairs simultaneously emitted from a solid surface upon excitation with photons (double photoemission or (γ, 2e)) or electrons (e,2e) provide information about the electron correlation in the solid which is mediated by exchange and Coulomb interactions.

Detection of vibrational emissions from the helium hydride ion (HeH$^+$) in the planetary nebula NGC 7027

open access: yes, 2020
We report the detection of emission in the v=1-0 P(1) (3.51629 micron) and P(2) (3.60776 micron) rovibrational lines of the helium hydride cation (HeH+) from the planetary nebula NGC 7027.

Passive exposure to e-cigarette emissions: Sensory irritation, timing and association with VOCs

open access: yesTobacco Prevention and Cessation, 2019
In the frame of the TackSHS Project, we examined irritation symptoms reported by the participants passively exposed to e-cigarette emissions during 30 minutes, their timing and their association with the concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

Effects of tillage and nitrogen fertilizers on CH4 and CO2 emissions and soil organic carbon in paddy fields of central China.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Quantifying carbon (C) sequestration in paddy soils is necessary to help better understand the effect of agricultural practices on the C cycle. The objective of the present study was to assess the effects of tillage practices [conventional tillage (CT ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Investigating ternary biogas-hydrogen-diethyl ether blends for emission reduction and performance enhancement in CI engines: A Taguchi approach

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This study evaluates the emissions and performance characteristics of a compression ignition (CI) engine operating in dual fuel mode with ternary blends of biogas, hydrogen, and diethyl ether (DEE).

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Non-factorizable contributions to $\bar{B^0_d} \to D_s^{(*)} \bar{D_s^{(*)}}$

open access: yes, 2004
It is pointed out that decays of the type $B \to D \bar{D}$ have no factorizable contributions, unless at least one of the charmed mesons in the final state is a vector meson.

Emissions control catalysts: links between Fecralloy preoxidation and coating adherence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Tightening emissions legislation for vehicles across the world has caused the use of monolith catalysts in automobile emission control to become ubiquitous.

Effective diabetes complication management is a step toward a carbon-efficient planet: an economic modeling study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background The management of diabetes-related complications accounts for a large share of total carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions. We assessed whether improving diabetes control in people with type 2 diabetes reduces CO2e emissions, compared ...
