Observations of V = 1–0 emission from thermospheric nitric oxide by ISAMS

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1993
The Improved Stratospheric and Mesospheric Sounder (ISAMS) on the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) has made global measurements of emission from the 1→0 band of nitric oxide (NO), using a limb viewing geometry in which the tangent point is scanned from 0 km to >150 km.

Clustering Algorithm Reveals Dopamine‐Motor Mismatch in Cognitively Preserved Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between dopaminergic denervation and motor impairment in two de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) cohorts. Methods n = 249 PD patients from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and n = 84 from an external clinical cohort.

Sources of Emission Reductions: Evidence for US SO2 Emissions 1985-2002

open access: yes, 2004
An enduring issue in environmental regulation is whether to clean up existing "old" plants or in some manner to bring in new "clean" plants to replace the old.

Green Manuring with Oilseed Rape (Brassica napus L.) Mitigates Methane (CH4) and Nitrous Oxide (N2O) Emissions in a Rice-Ratooning System in Central China

open access: yesAgriculture
The use of oilseed rape (OS, Brassica napus L.) as a winter green manure is crucial for enhancing soil fertility and reducing chemical N application in paddy fields.

CX3CL1 in Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease: Plasma Dynamics Across Age and Disease Stages

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Backgrounds Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid‐beta plaques, tau tangles, and neuroinflammation. C‐X3‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1, also known as fractalkine), a neuroimmune chemokine implicated in AD pathogenesis, shows inconsistent alterations in plasma/serum across studies.

FDG‐PET Associations With Disease Severity and Outcomes in NMDA‐Receptor IgG Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate (NMDA) receptor‐immunoglobulin G (IgG) autoimmune encephalitis (NMDAR‐IgG AE) demonstrate occipital lobe hypometabolism on baseline brain fluorodeoxyglucose‐positron emission tomography (bFDG‐PET).

Variation of Engine Performance and Emissions using Ethanol Blends

open access: yes, 2010
The limited fossil fuel resources along with the increased public concerns about pollution levels have increased the need for alternative fuels for use in internal combustion engines.

Clinical Validation of Plasma p‐217tau in Neurological Diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma p‐217tau is a minimally invasive but specific biomarker for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its disease specificity remains to be clinically evaluated. We validated the reliability of the p‐217tau biomarker in 12 other neurological diseases.

Measures to reduce ammonia emissions from livestock manures: now, soon and later

open access: yes, 2011
Various possible options to further decrease ammonia emissions from livestock manure were explored in a desk study. Techniques and their impact on the processes leading to NH3 production and volatilization are described.

CSF Monoamine Metabolites and Cognitive Trajectory in Early Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Imaging and postmortem studies indicate that abnormalities in monoaminergic neurotransmission contribute to cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it remains uncertain if cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) monoamine metabolites can serve as biomarkers of cognitive decline in early PD.
