The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.

Is Self-Fulfillment Essential for Romantic Love? The self-other tension in romantic love
Two major features of emotions are their personal, interested nature and the centrality of the self-other relation. There seems to be a built-in tension between the two: this is evident, for example, in negative emotions such as envy and hate, where one ...

mGluR5 in ECCCK to BLA Circuit Modulates Depressive‐Like Phenotypes through CCK Signaling
Dysregulation of mGluR5 and CCK signaling contributes to major depressive disorder, yet circuit‐level mechanisms remain unclear. Here, the ECCCK→BLA pathway is identified as a critical regulator of affective behavior. mGluR5 modulates synaptic function and CCK signaling within this circuit, controlling stress susceptibility and depressive‐like states ...

Organization of corticocortical and thalamocortical top-down inputs in the primary visual cortex
Unified visual perception requires integration of bottom-up and top-down inputs in the primary visual cortex (V1), yet the organization of top-down inputs in V1 remains unclear. Here, we used optogenetics-assisted circuit mapping to identify how multiple

Heart Rate Responses to Synthesized Affective Spoken Words
The present study investigated the effects of brief synthesized spoken words with emotional content on the ratings of emotions and heart rate responses. Twenty participants' heart rate functioning was measured while they listened to a set of emotionally ...

Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.

Regulation of physical activity and energy expenditure through Phf6 in the medial preoptic area
Obesity arises from disrupted energy homeostasis, yet the neural mechanisms linking transcriptional regulation to energy expenditure remain unclear. Here, we identify plant homeodomain finger protein 6 (Phf6), a gene mutated in Börjeson-Forssman-Lehmann ...

We investigate whether Montessori and traditional schooling systems shape the developmental trajectory of large‐scale brain dynamics in different ways. We quantify the arrow of time (“non‐reversibility”) in neural activity during resting state and movie‐watching, revealing distinct maturational patterns.

The study elucidates that paternal preconception stress can drive offspring hyperresponsivity of the stress system via hypomethylation of a specific DNA region in sperm. This key link is confirmed in a cohort of prospective fathers: the epigenetic alteration is associated with elevated stress hormone levels.
