Beginning course surveys: Bridges to knowing and bridges to being
The use of a participant survey, administered at the outset of an online course, can provide information useful in the management of the learning environment and in its subsequent redesign.

This study presents novel macrocyclic peptides with low nanomolar affinity for CD59, an immunomodulatory cell surface receptor associated with human disease. Crystallographic and structure‐activity relationship (SAR) studies reveal peptide CP‐06 mimics the binding of biologically relevant CD59 interaction partners. Dimeric and lipidated CP‐06 analogues

Fan studies in psychology: A road less traveled
This article describes the methods and materials used in my various studies of fan cultures in the years from 1988 to 2018. It delineates a mixed methods/multi-perspectivist approach and describes the process by which fan groups were selected and studied.

Bayes and empirical Bayes: do they merge? [PDF]
Bayesian inference is attractive for its coherence and good frequentist properties. However, it is a common experience that eliciting a honest prior may be difficult and, in practice, people often take an {\em empirical Bayes} approach, plugging empirical estimates of the prior hyperparameters into the posterior distribution.

Worth the Effort: Lessons for Discovery and Care From an Unusual Case of Gorlin Syndrome
ABSTRACT Gorlin‐Goltz Syndrome (GGS) is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder encompassing a diverse range of clinical manifestations, including congenital anomalies and predisposition to cancer. Pathogenic variants in PTCH1 and SUFU account for up to 79% and 6% of cases, respectively. Currently, an estimated 15%–27% of individuals with a clinical

An automated experimental workflow to accelerate the discovery of metal‐organic cages (MOCs), which is often hindered by slow, manual approaches, has been developed. Automation of the synthesis, characterization, and analysis, is supported by computational modelling to rationalize the experimental outcomes, and development of a host–guest assay ...

Empirical likelihood confidence regions for the parameters of a two phases nonlinear model with and without missing response data [PDF]
In this paper, we use the empirical likelihood method to construct the confidence regions for the difference between the parameters of a two-phases nonlinear model with random design. We show that the empirical likelihood ratio has an asymptotic chi-squared distribution. The result is a nonparametric version of Wilk's theorem.
