Network Latency Estimation for Telesurgery Using Deep Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
Overview of the proposed two‐stage deep reinforcement learning framework for network latency prediction in telesurgery. The pipeline includes data collection from simulated catheter navigation sessions (Philippines–Botswana), feature engineering, DQN‐based direction prediction (85.8% accuracy), direction‐to‐value transformation, and value forecasting ...

Task‐Oriented Hierarchical Environment Modeling via Spatial Belonging Relationships for Domestic Service Robots

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
Domestic service robots in dynamic homes often rely on memory‐intensive, quickly outdated 3‐D maps. This work presents HEMDSR, a four‐layer, task‐oriented model that reasons about object‐room and object‐object spatial belonging relationships, encodes observation viewpoints, and builds local 3‐D maps just‐in‐time.

Why Does Individualism Affect Economic Development: Is It Values, Policies, or Institutions?

open access: yesSouthern Economic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A substantial body of literature highlights the positive roles of individualism and economic freedom in fostering prosperity, and recent work links the two. This paper disentangles their contributions to economic development. In cross‐country data, we show that both are independently associated with per capita income, even after extensive ...

Salient Rewards, Payoff Protocols and Biased Data

open access: yesSouthern Economic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paying salient rewards to subjects is expensive. Is it worth it? We describe previous data from otherwise identical treatments with hypothetical or salient payoffs that indicate opposite conclusions about the central research question in a paper. If we are going to pay salient rewards, how should we? The answer depends on the theoretical model

Study on Classification and Detection of Operational Fatigue in Deep‐Well Mining Truck Drivers Based on GSWOA‐LSSVM

open access: yesSafety Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effectively detecting the operational fatigue of miners can identify safety risks in mines. As the executors of auxiliary transportation in mines, the operational fatigue status of mining truck drivers deserves particular attention and detection.
