On the Ontology of Linguistic Frameworks Toward a Comprehensive Version of Empiricism

open access: yesPhilosophia Scientiæ, 2015
Can the abstract entities be designated? While the empiricists usually took the positive answer to this question as the first step toward Platonism, in his ``Empiricism, Semantics, and Ontology’’ [Carnap 1950], Carnap tried to make a reconciliation ...

"In Defense of Pure Reason: A Rationalist Account of A Priori Justification" by Laurence BonJour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Laurence BonJour divides approaches to a priori justification into three kinds. Quine’s radical empiricism denies the existence of any special category of a priori justification; moderate empiricism attempts to explain a priori ...

Numerical Model and Experimental Validation of Composite Metal Foam in Protecting Carbon Steel Against Puncture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The puncture prevention and energy absorption performance of composite metal foam (CMF) are studied experimentally and numerically for hazardous materials transportation protection. The numerical model implementing air within the CMF (nonhomogeneous model using fluid cavity technique) predicts puncture more accurately compared to the homogeneous CMF ...

Experimental Analysis and Physics‐Based Analytical Model on Twisted and Coiled Artificial Muscles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted and coiled artificial muscles made from silver‐coated nylon fibers are investigated through experiments and analytical modeling. The actuators achieve contractions up to 19.3% and specific work of 8 kJ kg−1, though efficiency remains limited (≈0.15%) by thermal losses.

Tinjauan terhadap Metode Empirisme dan Rasionalisme

open access: yesJurnal Filsafat, 2008
Rasionalism and empiricism conceptions have so many weakness to use as a method to get knowledge. Therefore, it is a much need another method that can be expected to revise those weakness.

High‐Entropy Alloy Design Toward Cobalt Substitution for High Hardness and Low Wear Rate Using X–Cr–Fe–Mn–Ni System

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the replacement of cobalt using the high‐entropy alloy design strategy for wear‐resistant components operating at high temperatures. Starting from the Cantor alloy, cobalt is substituted with Cu, Al, V, or Mo. Metallurgical and tribological analyses reveal that aluminum, vanadium, and molybdenum effectively strengthen the developed ...

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

Trashing the Tables: The Critical Legal Studies Symposium of the Stanford Law Review, Then and Now

open access: yesLaws
When the critical legal studies (CLS) movement emerged in the United States, many in the legal community were shocked by the movement’s radical calls to remake legal education.
