A general method for predicting the weight of water in the empty bodies of pigs

Animal Science, 1995
AbstractAs water is the major component of the pig body its accurate prediction is of importance in pig growth models. It has become conventional to predict the weight of water, WA kg, from the weight of protein, P kg. The purpose of this paper is to find how this can be done across pig genotypes of different mature size.

Prediction of body weight and composition in lactating dairy cows: Prediction of empty body contents of lipid and crude protein

Proceedings of the British Society of Animal Science, 2005
The accurate prediction of body composition of dairy cows is important for developing appropriate nutritional and management regimes. The objective of the present study was to develop prediction equations for empty body (EB) composition of lactating dairy cows using body weight and other live animal data.

Investigations on empty body weight gain, on protein, fat and energy deposition as well as on utilization of metabolizable energy for energy deposition at black and white bulls

Archiv für Tierernaehrung, 1995
Six series of individual feeding experiments (altogether 544 animals) with different energy supply and connected with steps slaughteries and whole-body analyses, constructed carried out and analysed upon the same aspects, were regression analytically interpreted with the aim of quantify the relation of empty body weight to live weight.
