Development and evaluation of models to estimate body chemical composition of young Nellore bulls

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia
The objective of this study was to develop accurate regression equations to predict body composition of Nellore cattle using chemical composition of the 9th, 10th, and 11th ribs and to evaluate the models proposed by analyzing mean and linear bias. Sixty-

Body composition and net protein and energy requirements for weight gain of crossbred dairy cattle in grazing Composição corporal e exigências líquidas de proteína e energia para ganho de peso de bovinos mestiços leiteiros em pastejo

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2009
The body composition and net protein and energy requirements for weight gain of 5/8 Hostein-Zebu crossbred cattle raised in Brachiaria decumbens Spaft pasture were evaluated. In total, 16 bulls with 10 months of age and body weight (BW) of 180 ± 19.95 kg

Live animal predictions of carcass components and marble score in beef cattle: model development and evaluation

open access: yesAnimal, 2020
Until recently, beef carcass payment grids were predominantly based on weight and fatness categories with some adjustment for age, defined as number of adult teeth, to determine the price received by Australian beef producers for slaughter cattle.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Si‐Doped Nanocrystalline Diamond as Highly Sensitive Luminescence Thermometer for the Physiological Temperature Range

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, diamonds with negative charged silicon‐vacancy (SiV−) centers have been designed for use as thermometers in biomedical applications. Multiparametric analysis of the emission characteristics of the SiV− centers provides extraordinary sensitivity for temperature detection in the physiological temperature range.

Effects of fenfluramine on food intake, body weight, gastric emptying and brain monoamines in syrian hamsters

open access: yesBrain Research Bulletin, 1986
In the first experiment, dose-inhibition and -time functions are documented for the anorectic effects of d,l-fenfluramine in Syrian hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus). A dose of 20 mg/kg (IP) inhibited feeding for at least 2-4 hr. In the second experiment, chronic treatment of hamsters housed either in running wheels (exercise) or standard (sedentary ...

Mechanically Compliant, Precision‐Porous Brain Implants Reduce the Foreign Body Reaction and Guide Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores how the brain responds to implants of different properties. Hydrogels with various mechanical properties and pore sizes were implanted in adult rat brains. It is observed that hydrogels with mechanical property closely matched to the brain and 40 µm pore size elicit a pro‐healing response from the brain by modulating the immune ...
