Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

How does aging affect the types of error made in a visual short-term memory ‘object-recall’ task?
This study examines how normal aging affects the occurrence of different types of incorrect responses in a visual short-term memory object-recall task. Seventeen young (Mean = 23.3 years, SD = 3.76), and 17 normally aging older (Mean = 66.5 years, SD = 6.

On Empty Names: Russell’s Theory and His Rivals
Talking about non-existent beings is a great and important constituting part in ordinary languages. However, it is not as easy to make a judgement about whether a statement involving non-existent terms is true or false. Many philosophers gave their own solutions on this issue and one of the most famous theories was brought up by Russell.

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

Engravings of the Names of the Victims on the Empty Sky Memorial
The walls the Empty Sky Memorial filled with names, listed within easy reach and engraved deeply enough to make hand rubbings possible. The memorial is designed in a way that visually connects New Jersey with the skyline of New York - with the memorial ...

Truth Without Reference: The Use of Fictional Names
Singular terms without referents are called empty or vacuous terms. But not all of them are equally empty. In particular, not all proper names that fail to name an existing object fail in the same way: although they are all empty, they are not all ...

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Referentialism and descriptivism hail from two major opposing camps in the semantic theory of meaning within the philosophy of language. Referentialism argues that the meaning of proper names is tied up directly and exhaustively in their reference ...
