Liquid Metal Microrobots for Magnetically Guided Transvascular Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal‐based microrobots combine magnetic steering, intrinsic X‐ray visibility and softness, to navigate blood vessels even against flow. Under clinically relevant magnetic fields, liquid metal microrobots roll along vessel walls, cross endothelial barriers, and accumulate in target tissues.

Fiscal Policy and EMU

open access: yesNational Institute Economic Review, 1996
This article considers the role of fiscal policy within a European Monetary Union. There are two quite different issues. The first is the medium-term problem of deficits and debt. The Maastricht fiscal convergence criteria are usually seen as an imperfect response to the need to contain potentially ‘irresponsible’ fiscal authorities.

Field‐Free, Deterministic Giant Spin‐Orbit Torque Switching of 1.3 T Perpendicular Magnetization With Symmetry‐Lifted Topological Surface States

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We show a giant, bias‐field free, deterministic, spin‐orbit‐torque switching of perpendicular hard magnets with HC over 1.3 T. By combining the three‐fold 3m symmetry from topological insulator surface states with the rectangular mm2 symmetry from the 2 x 1 intercalation in Cr3Te4, the interface symmetry is significantly reduced into a unidirectional m

Experience in ensuring the strength of the supporting structures of locomotives and electric multiple units

open access: yesВестник Научно-исследовательского института железнодорожного транспорта, 2019
To ensure fatigue strength of metal structures in mechanical engineering, various approaches are practiced. One of them allows for the appearance of cyclic stresses in details with amplitudes exceeding the fatigue limit.

Mitigating Singlet Exciton Back‐Transfer using 2D Spacer Layers for Perovskite‐Sensitised Upconversion

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The efficiency of bulk perovskite‐sensitised upconversion is hindered by parasitic singlet back‐transfer. A 2D perovskite spacer layer is introduced to weaken this loss pathway by increasing the separation between the sensitiser and the emitter. The spacer layer enhances the upconversion efficiency at lower excitation powers and improves the stability ...

The Future of EMU: What Does the History of Monetary Unions Tell Us? [PDF]

open access: yes
The creation of EMU and the ECB has triggered a discussion of the future of EMU. Independent observers have pointed to a number of shortcomings or hazard areas' in the construction of EMU, such as the absence of a central lender of last resort function ...

Photonics of Topological Magnetic Textures

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Localized noncollinear magetic textures imprint their geometry and topology onto traversing photonic fields endowing them with orbital angular‐momentum, chirality, and magnetoelectric densities. Abstract Topological textures in magnetically ordered materials are an important case studies for fundamental research with promising applications in data ...

Data-driven Prediction Method for High-speed Railway EMU Train Front and Rear Car Wheel Tread Defects

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective Tread defects are a primary manifestation of wheel failures in high-speed railway EMU (electrical multiple unites) trains, significantly impacting both EMU train operation safety and passenger ride comfort. Wheel tread defects are predominantly

Simulation Analysis of Jet Noise from High-speed Railway EMU Main Circuit Breaker Switching Valve and Noise Reduction Measures

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective The jet noise generated by the main circuit breaker switching valve of high-speed railway EMU is excessively high, which seriously affects passenger comfort. Therefore, it is essential to study effective noise reduction measures.
