Emulsion‐templated synthesis of 3D evaporators for efficient solar steam generation

open access: yesSmartMat, 2023
Interfacial solar steam generation holds great promise in water desalination thanks to its high energy efficiency by heating only the top layer of water for evaporation.

Shaping nanoparticle fingerprints at the interface of cholesteric droplets

open access: yes, 2018
The ordering of nanoparticles into predetermined configurations is of importance to the design of advanced technologies. In this work, we moderate the surface anchoring against the bulk elasticity of liquid crystals to dynamically shape nanoparticle ...

Aqueous Two‐Phase Bioinks for Discrete Packing and Compartmentalization of 3D Bioprinted Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPS) enable the formation of biomimetic interfaces crucial for tissue engineering. However, clinical translation remains limited by the challenge of precisely controlling cellular compartmentalization. Here, we developed ATPS biomaterial inks for 3D bioprinting allowing tuneable droplet formation via NaCl modulation.

Interfacial Imide Polymerization of Functionalized Filled Microcapsule Templates by the Pickering Emulsion Method for the Rapid Removal of 3,4,5-Trichlorophenol from Wastewater

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
In this work, an olive oil-filled composite capsule (C–O/W) adsorbent was prepared for the adsorption of 3,4,5-trichlorophenol (3,4,5-TCP) by the emulsion templating method.

Preparation of Spherical Microparticles Composed of Cellulose Nanofiber and Cellulose Diacetate via Pickering Emulsion Templating

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Cellulose nanofiber (CNF) derived from woody bioresources is a fascinating natural nanomaterial. In this work, spherical microparticles were fabricated by using TEMPO-oxidized CNF (TOCNF) and cellulose diacetate (CDA) via Pickering emulsion templating ...

Emulsion-Templated Fully Reversible Protein-in-Oil Gels [PDF]

open access: yesLangmuir, 2006
We have developed a new method allowing us to transform low-viscous apolar fluids into elastic solids with a shear elastic modulus of the order of 10(3)-10(5) Pa. The elasticity of the elastic solid is provided by a percolating 3D network of proteins, which are originally adsorbed at the interface of an oil-in-water emulsion template.

A Modular Bioinstructive Platform Reveals Mechanistic Insights into Additive‐Free, Topography‐Driven Osteogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered microparticle topographies direct human mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis without biochemical additives. This osteogenic commitment is driven by canonical Hedgehog signaling and followed by temporal IGF‐II engagement. Two‐photon polymerization demonstrates spatial control, enabling the engineering of topographical gradients that pattern ...
