Angiocentric glioma mimicking encephalomalacia
Angiocentric glioma is a rare low-grade neoplasm of the central nervous system which typically presents with medication-refractory seizures in children and young adults. On magnetic resonance imaging, angiocentric glioma is classically T1 hypointense and T2/FLAIR hyperintense.

THE HISTOPATHOLOGY OF NUTRITIONAL ENCEPHALOMALACIA OF CHICKS [PDF]
Whatever may be the nature of the nutritive error or deficiency which in chicks is responsible for encephalomalacia, the immediate cause must be looked for in some agent or condition which impairs the capillary circulation of the brain. The essential lesion is an ischemic necrosis, followed, if the animal survive, by reparative organization of the dead

Radiofrequency thermocoagulation in focal epilepsy: A retrospective cohort study. [PDF]
Abstract Objective Stereoelectroencephalography‐guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation (SEEG‐guided RFTC) has been increasingly used as diagnostic and therapeutic approach for drug‐resistant focal epilepsies (DREs). We aimed to describe seizure outcomes of RFTC before and after further neurosurgical intervention.

Focal Symmetrical Encephalomalacia in a Goat [PDF]
Focal symmetrical encephalomalacia (FSE) is the most prominent lesion seen in the chronic form of enterotoxemia caused by Clostridium perfringens type D in sheep. However, this lesion has not been reported in goats. The current paper reports a case of FSE in a goat from the state of Paraíba in the Brazilian semiarid region.

Psychoses of Epilepsy: Unravelling the Phenotypic and Genotypic Features
Objectives We analyzed the genotypic and phenotypic features of patients with psychosis of epilepsy (POE). Methods Patients with POE recruited to an epilepsy genetics research program underwent phenotyping and genetic analysis. The latter included screening for rare pathogenic variants in epilepsy genes, and polygenic risk score (PRS) calculation for ...

Salvage Trans‐Sylvian Peri‐Insular Hemispherotomy After Embolic Hemispherectomy
ABSTRACT Background Hemispherectomy and hemispherotomy represent well‐established treatments for drug‐resistant hemispheric epilepsy. An alternative endovascular procedure has been explored for cases with challenging surgical anatomy, which seeks to achieve the clinical effect of hemispherectomy via embolization of the major cerebral arteries and ...

Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

Cerebral ischemia is a serious neurological disease that mainly leads to pathological changes such as mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress and iron death. Mitochondria play a key role in the regulation of cellular energy metabolism and oxidative stress, and their damage can lead to mitochondrial damage, reduced adenosine triphosphate production,
