The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

A Novel Scheme With Honest Relay for Secret Key Distribution
Original quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols operate on a peer-to-peer basis between two adjacent nodes, which are directly connected through a quantum channel. Such protocols are severely distance limited.

Nasolacrimal Duct Orifice: A Cadaveric Study in Relation to Important Anatomical Landmarks
The nasolacrimal apparatus is intimately associated with the lateral nasal wall and may be approached using an endoscopic technique. This study was undertaken to describe in detail the gross anatomy of the nasolacrimal duct orifice in relation to various

Long distance entanglement and high-dimensional quantum teleportation in the Fermi–Hubbard model
The long distance entanglement in finite size open Fermi–Hubbard chains, together with the end-to-end quantum teleportation are investigated. We show the peculiarity of the ground state of the Fermi–Hubbard model to support maximum long distance ...

mRNAs and lncRNAs intrinsically form secondary structures with short end-to-end distances [PDF]
Abstract The 5′ and 3′ termini of RNA play important roles in many cellular processes. Using Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET), we show that mRNAs and lncRNAs have an intrinsic propensity to fold in the absence of proteins into structures in which the 5′ end and 3′ end are ≤7 nm apart irrespective of mRNA length.
