End mill tools integration in CNC machining for rapid manufacturing processes: simulation studies

open access: yesProduction and Manufacturing Research: An Open Access Journal, 2015
Computer numerical controlled (CNC) machining has been recognized as a manufacturing process that is capable of producing metal parts with high precision and reliable quality, whereas many additive manufacturing methods are less capable in these respects.

The Realization of Multidirectional, Free‐Standing 3D Plasmonic Nanostructures via 3D Nanoprinting: A Case Study of Fractal Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free‐standing plasmonic gold‐based fractal antennas are fabricated by 3D nanoprinting, employing focused electron beam induced deposition and an optimized purification method to remove carbon while conserving structural fidelity. Simulation and experiment show broadband plasmonic activity, including customizable polarizability, thereby paving the way ...

Finding of coefficients and oxidizable nitrogen from palm oil mill effluent (POME) for activated sludge models(ASMs) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Activated Sludge Models (ASMs) have been widely used as a basis for further model development in wastewater treatment processes. Values for parameters to be used are vital for the accuracy of the modeling approach.

Effect of ball milling in a tumbling ball mill on the properties of multi-wall carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The effects of ball milling on various properties of ground multi-wall carbon nanotubes were studied. These properties were granulometry, SEM,specific surface area, density, crystalline structure, surface chemical analysis and thermogravimetry.

A Vascular Microphysiological Model of Lung Fibrosis Reveals That Myofibroblasts and IPF Patient‐Derived Fibroblasts Impair Angiogenesis and Vasculogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A microphysiological lung fibrosis model recapitulates myofibroblast–vascular interactions. Induced myofibroblasts and patient‐derived IPF fibroblasts impair angiogenesis and increase vascular permeability via TGF‐β1–driven signaling. Pharmacological interventions with SB 431542 and VEGF supplementation restore vascular morphology and barrier function.

Haul Truck Tires Recycling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The disposal of large Off-the-Road (OTR) tires is an increasingly important concern. These tires can weigh up to 8,450 pounds with an overall diameter and width of approximately 140.7 inches and 45.1 inches respectively.

Multi‐Faceted Binder Enhancement via Slurry‐Applicable Thiol‐Ene Click Chemistry for Low‐Pressure‐Operable All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cross‐linked binders with enhanced resiliencies under low operating pressures are designed via in situ thiol‐ene click reactions within slurries. Cross‐linking improves the Young's moduli and elasticities of the styrene‐butadiene rubber binders, effectively mitigating interparticle delamination within the composite cathodes induced by volumetric ...

Burrs produced by end milling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
The operation of small precision mechanisms such as timers, switches, or actuators depends on burr-free, sharp-edged component parts. Traditional methods of producing these near-perfect edges on miniature parts are costly and not as precise or repeatable as some piecepart designs require.
