Research on Centroid Distribution and Dynamic Characteristics of Irregular Tooth End Milling Cutters

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
For irregular end milling cutters, the incomplete equality of the pitch angle and helix angle will lead to an uneven mass distribution. The problems of centroid distribution caused by this, and whether it would affect the dynamic characteristics of ...

Cutting force and nonlinear chatter stability of ball-end milling cutter

open access: yesThe International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2021
Ball-end milling cutters are one of the most widely used cutters in the automotive, aerospace, die, and machine parts industries. Milling chatter reduced the surface quality and production efficiency, resulting in noise.

Digital simulation cylindrical milling process with end mills

open access: yesInternational Scientific and Technical conference "The Progressive Technics, Technology and Engineering Education", 2021
Any cutting process is accompanied by vibrations that can lead to a chatter of machining surface and even to a loss of stability. Mathematical modeling helps to solve such problems of the choice of cutting mode that provide vibration-free machining. The developed mathematical model takes into account the closed of the cutting process and machining "on ...

SIMULATION MODELING OF 2.5D MILLING DYNAMICS BY END MILLS

open access: yesBulletin of the National Technical University «KhPI» Series: New solutions in modern technologies, 2022
A mathematical model for simulation modeling of 2.5D end milling is presented. The model takes into account the loop closed of the cutting process in the elastic machining system through the feedback in the form of elastic shifts along the coordinate axes. The dynamics of the system are represented by a single-mass model with two degrees of freedom.

An Experimental Study on Milling Titanium Alloy with a Revolving Cycloid Milling Cutter

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this paper, a revolving cycloid milling cutter was designed with a larger effective cutting helix angle and rake angle than a ball end milling cutter of the same diameter.

Research on end mill vibration in machining of VT9 titanium alloy

open access: yesВестник Самарского университета: Аэрокосмическая техника, технологии и машиностроение, 2022
The reason for the failure of carbide end mills is the chipping of the cutting edges at the transition from the radius edges to the helix edges on the cylindrical part of the cutter.

Flank milling with flat end milling cutters [PDF]

open access: yesComputer-Aided Design, 2003
One situation encountered in industry is that two curves on the machined surface are known, such as the top and bottom profiles of a blade. The shape of the surface is not known and is to be determined by a tool sliding along the generating rails. In this paper, we give a detailed mathematical understanding of flank milling with flat end cutters, which

Cutting Forces Prediction in Ball End Milling [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2011
In curved surface machining, parametric surface representation is normally used for computer aided design (CAD). Parametric surfaces are often machined using a flat end mill for roughing and ball end mill for finishing.

Prediction of Surface Roughness Based on Cutting Parameters and Machining Vibration in End Milling Using Regression Method and Artificial Neural Network

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
This study presents surface roughness modeling for machined parts based on cutting parameters (spindle speed, cutting depth, and feed rate) and machining vibration in the end milling process.
