Pathology of end-stage kidney disease
The American Journal of Medicine, 1968Abstract The various pathologic pictures which make up the end-stage kidney are described. Certain patterns of involvement persist, even in patients with long continued chronic renal failure, that may permit one to make a diagnosis. In some cases, however, it may not be possible to arrive at an accurate diagnosis; this is particularly true of the ...

Clopidogrel Use in End‐Stage Kidney Disease
Seminars in Dialysis, 2014AbstractClopidogrel irreversibly binds to the P2Y12 platelet receptor and acts as a potent inhibitor of platelet activation and aggregation. It is currently recommended for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndromes, recent ischemic stroke, and peripheral arterial disease.

Renal Adenocarcinoma and End Stage Kidney Disease
Journal of Urology, 1987The association of end stage kidney disease with cystic degeneration and renal adenocarcinoma was first recognized in 1977. Since then a number of reports have confirmed this relationship. Duration of dialysis has been the most strongly associated risk factor. We report 8 cases of end stage kidney disease and renal adenocarcinoma.

Hematuria and risk for end-stage kidney disease
Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension, 2013Hematuria is a common clinical finding requiring medical attention and poses several clinical challenges. The main challenge is to predict the future risk for chronic kidney disease and therefore to design a long-term follow-up evaluation and treatment plan.

Lupus Nephritis and End-stage Kidney Disease
The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 2013Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem disease affecting many organs. Varying degrees of renal involvement are seen in up to 60% of adults with SLE, and severe lupus nephritis (LN) (World Health Organization class III and above) progresses to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) within 15 years of diagnosis in 10% to 30% of patients.

Xenotransplantation of a Porcine Kidney for End-Stage Kidney Disease
New England Journal of MedicineXenotransplantation offers a potential solution to the organ shortage crisis. A 62-year-old hemodialysis-dependent man with long-standing diabetes, advanced vasculopathy, and marked dialysis-access challenges received a gene-edited porcine kidney with 69 genomic edits, including deletion of three glycan antigens, inactivation of porcine endogenous ...

Kidney Disease: End-Stage Renal Disease.
FP essentials, 2021End-stage renal disease (ESRD) affects approximately 745,000 individuals in the United States. Patients with ESRD are dependent on renal replacement therapy (RRT) via dialysis or kidney transplantation. The two dialysis modalities are peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis.

[Dialysis in end-stage kidney disease].
Nederlands tijdschrift voor geneeskunde, 2021Available treatment options for patients with end-stage kidney disease are kidney transplantation, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis or refraining from renal replacement therapy (conservative treatment). Haemodialysis removes uremic toxins and fluid by passing blood via vascular access through an artificial kidney for 4 hours 3 times a week on average.

Ischemic Heart Disease in Patients with End-Stage Kidney Disease
Blood Purification, 2015Background: It was recently reported that the severity of coronary and carotid atherosclerosis in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) has improved over the last two decades. However, the frequency of coronary artery events observed at the initiation of dialysis remains high. Summary: <
