Abstract As habitat salinity markedly differs between the endangered, freshwater‐dwelling Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa saimensis Nordquist, 1899) and the brackish water‐inhabiting Baltic ringed seal (Pusa hispida botnica Gmelin, 1788), we investigated whether this difference has resulted in morphological changes to their kidneys.

Space-Based Genetic Cryoconservation of Endangered Species [PDF]
Genetic materials of endangered species must be maintained, for cryoconservation, permanently near liquid nitrogen temperatures below 77 K. Due to the instability of human institutions, permanent safety is best provided at storage sites that maintain ...

Gonadal development in scorpion mud‐turtles, Kinosternon scorpioides, in a controlled environment
Stage 20 was identified as the critical point for gonadal differentiation in Kinosternon scorpioides, providing key insights into sex determination. These findings enhance conservation strategies by supporting reproductive management and population viability in both in situ and ex situ programs. Abstract Research on gonadal development including sexual

Abstract In a large sample of adult crab‐eating macaques, we quantified sexual dimorphism in size, shape, and covariance across the whole skull and among anatomical regions of the cranium and mandible. All regions showed significant mean sex differences, but the magnitude of size and shape dimorphism varied substantially.

In vitro propagation of a rare orchid, Bulbophyllum nipondhii was carried out. Five different media were tested to find the suitable medium for seed germination and seedling development. The tangible results were obtained on VW medium. To assess the effect of pollination types on seed germination and seedlings development, seeds derived from different ...
