Osteoporosis and bone health in autoimmune blistering skin disease—an evidenced based review

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Volume 34, Issue 12, Page 2745-2756, December 2020., 2020
Abstract Autoimmune blistering skin diseases (AIBD) encompass a group of diseases characterised by cutaneous and/or mucocutaneous fragility. Multiple risk factors contributing to osteoporosis exist in AIBD patients, including use of long‐term systemic corticosteroid therapy (SCT), decreased mobility and the presence of chronic inflammation.

Common Human Leukocyte Antigen Alleles in Pemphigus Vulgaris and Pemphigus Foliaceus Italian Patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Pemphigus refers to a group of autoimmune blistering skin diseases, mainly identified as pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus, both characterized by the presence of autoantibodies against keratinocyte adhesion molecules, leading to loss of cell ...

Update on fogo selvagem, an endemic form of pemphigus foliaceus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Pemphigus are organ-specific autoimmune diseases, where autoantibodies (mainly IgG) directed against epidermal targets (glycoproteins of the desmosomal core) are detected.

Activating KIR and HLA Bw4 ligands are associated to decreased susceptibility to pemphigus foliaceus, an autoimmune blistering skin disease. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The KIR genes and their HLA class I ligands have thus far not been investigated in pemphigus foliaceus (PF) and related autoimmune diseases, such as pemphigus vulgaris. We genotyped 233 patients and 204 controls for KIR by PCR-SSP.

Beyond the HLA polymorphism: A complex pattern of genetic susceptibility to pemphigus [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2020
Pemphigus is a group of autoimmune bullous skin diseases that result in significant morbidity. As for other multifactorial autoimmune disorders, environmental factors may trigger the disease in genetically susceptible individuals.

Incidência do pênfigo vulgar ultrapassa a do pênfigo foliáceo em região endêmica para pênfigo foliáceo: análise de série histórica de 21 anos Incidence of pemphigus vulgaris exceeds that of pemphigus foliaceus in a region where pemphigus foliaceus is endemic: analysis of a 21-year historical series

Pemphigus Patients Receiving Rituximab: Latent Tuberculosis Risk and Diagnostic Concordance Between Tuberculin Skin Test and Interferon‐Gamma Release Assay

open access: yesDermatologic Therapy, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background and Aim Rituximab (RTX) therapy in pemphigus patients necessitates reliable latent tuberculosis (TB) infection (LTBI) screening to prevent reactivation. The tuberculin skin test (TST) and Interferon‐Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) are commonly used, yet discrepancies in their results create uncertainty, particularly in immunocompromised hosts ...
