High‐elevation endemic plants predicted to lose habitat from changing climate in Washington State

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise High‐elevation plants face unique challenges from potential climate change impacts that will likely require upslope migration into increasingly smaller suitable habitat. This situation is particularly acute for endemic species that by definition occupy small geographic ranges.

Pittosporum kirkii: Autecology of an endemic shrub epiphyte [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This research investigated the autecology of the New Zealand endemic shrub epiphyte Pittosporum kirkii (Pittosporaceae). Pittosporum kirkii most frequently displays an epiphytic lifestyle, perched amongst nest epiphytes in the canopies of emergent or ...

Linking community structure and climate vulnerability in desert plant assemblages of southern California

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Desert plant assemblages in southern California provide an opportunity to link patterns of community structure with climate‐driven vulnerability in a rapidly changing environment. California sustains an exceptionally diverse flora of approximately 4300 plant species, with 31% identified as endemic.

Assessing the impact of climate change on the distribution of endemic subalpine and alpine plants of New Guinea

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2018
Plant species of alpine and subalpine ecosystems in tropical mountains are prone to habitat loss due to future climate change. In the present study, the impact of climate change on the distribution of five endemic plant species of subalpine and alpine ...

Riqueza de fungos anamorfos na serapilheira de Manilkara maxima, Parinari alvimii e Harleyodendron unifoliolatum na Mata Atlântica do Sul da Bahia Richness of anamorphic fungi on the litter of Manilkara maxima, Parinari alvimii and Harleyodendron unifoliolatum in the Atlantic Forest of southern Bahia

Incomplete climate‐driven peripatric speciation in Moehringia sect. Moehringia (Caryophyllaceae) in the European Alps

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise The origin of endemic species in the European Alps is commonly attributed to the climatic oscillations of the Quaternary. Moehringia sect. Moehringia, with 12 of 15 species endemic to the Alps and mostly restricted to well‐known glacial refugia, is a prime system for investigating the diversification of a lineage originating in the ...

Evaluating the Thermal Behavior of a Sustainable Room and Roof Prototype Using Recycled Waste Materials

open access: yesRecycling, 2020
This work shows a proposed room prototype and its thermal behavior evaluation. The room was built by using polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles filled with soil from the site for its walls and a roof made of multiple layers of reused materials.

Austrocedrus from the Late Cretaceous of Antarctica and its implications for the early evolution of southern cypresses (Callitroideae, Cupressaceae)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise The modern distribution of the southern cypresses, Callitroideae (Cupressaceae), reflects a classic Gondwanan distribution. The initial diversification of Callitroideae is estimated to have occurred during the Cretaceous, yet fossils from this period are rare, hampering our understanding of its early evolutionary history.
