Simultaneous Quantification of Vibrio metoecus and Vibrio cholerae with Its O1 Serogroup and Toxigenic Subpopulations in Environmental Reservoirs

open access: yesPathogens, 2020
Vibrio metoecus is a recently described aquatic bacterium and opportunistic pathogen, closely related to and often coexisting with Vibrio cholerae. To study the relative abundance and population dynamics of both species in aquatic environments of cholera-

Population-specific adaptation in malaria-endemic regions of Asia

open access: yes, 2021
Evolutionary mechanisms of adaptation to malaria are understudied in Asian endemic regions despite a high prevalence of malaria in the region. In our research, we performed genome-wide screening for footprints of natural selection against malaria by ...

Fine‐scale genetic structure of the cloud forest tree Ocotea psychotrioides revealed by genome‐wide SNP data

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Recent advances in genomic technologies now enable the reconstruction of evolutionary histories at fine spatial scales, illuminating the complex dynamics that shape biodiversity patterns in naturally discontinuous, archipelago‐like ecosystems such as cloud forests.

Verrucous leishmaniasis: A diagnostic pitfall in endemic regions

open access: yesRevista de la Asociación Colombiana de Dermatología y Cirugía Dermatológica
Verrucous leishmaniasis is an uncommon variant of localized cutaneous leishmaniasis that can clinically resemble other chronic dermatoses, complicating diagnosis in endemic settings.

More endemic birds occur in regions with stable climate, more plant species and high altitudinal range in China

open access: yesAvian Research, 2020
Background Geographical distribution of endemic species and its multiple scale drivers are an important topic in biodiversity conservation, because these species are especially vulnerable to climate change and habitat degradation, and therefore have high

Performance of an Automated Zika IgG Immunoassay in the Detection of Zika IgG Specific Antibodies—A Validation Approach in Samples from Prevalence Areas and Non-Endemic Countries

open access: yesTropical Medicine and Infectious Disease, 2020
The diagnosis of Zika virus infection is complicated and includes testing for nucleic acids and IgM and IgG antibodies, depending on the stage of infection.

Equilibrium stability regions with no HAART coverage.

open access: yes, 2013
Regions represent values of the risk behaviour propagation coefficient and the infectivity in the undiagnosed chronic HIV phase for which both HIV and risk behaviour are endemic, only risk behaviour is endemic, and neither are endemic.

Different shape but the same topographical complexity—The lingual gross anatomy of the Saimaa (Pusa saimensis) and Baltic ringed seals (Pusa hispida botnica)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite the distinctly different shapes of their tongues, the tongue gross anatomy of Saimaa ringed seal closely resembled that of Baltic ringed seal. There were no differences in the extrinsic and intrinsic tongue muscles or their associated vascularization and innervation between Saimaa and Baltic ringed seals.
