High‐elevation endemic plants predicted to lose habitat from changing climate in Washington State

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise High‐elevation plants face unique challenges from potential climate change impacts that will likely require upslope migration into increasingly smaller suitable habitat. This situation is particularly acute for endemic species that by definition occupy small geographic ranges.

Phylogeographical studies of Ascaris spp. based on ribosomal and mitochondrial DNA sequences. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2013
The taxonomic distinctiveness of Ascaris lumbricoides and A. suum, two of the world's most significant nematodes, still represents a much-debated scientific issue.

Pediatric Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in an Endemic Region in India [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2014
Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is endemic in the Bikaner region situated in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan, India. This study describes clinicoepidemiological data of pediatric CL in pre-school children (0–5 years of age) from this region during 2001–2012. In total, 151 patients with 217 lesions were reported during the study period.

Linking community structure and climate vulnerability in desert plant assemblages of southern California

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Desert plant assemblages in southern California provide an opportunity to link patterns of community structure with climate‐driven vulnerability in a rapidly changing environment. California sustains an exceptionally diverse flora of approximately 4300 plant species, with 31% identified as endemic.

Belgorod region – the territory endemic for hepatitis E

open access: yesProblems of Virology, 2019
Introduction. Belgorod region is the territory with the highest incidence of hepatitis E in the Russian Federation. The aim of the study was to comprehensively characterize the circulation of hepatitis E virus (HEV) in the Belgorod region, including the study of population immunity to the virus, determining the prevalence of infection among the pig ...

A tribal‐scale phylogenomic perspective on ancestry and major lineages of the allotetraploid Hawaiian silversword alliance (Madieae, Compositae)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Disentangling the ancestry of insular plant lineages is important for resolving their evolutionary histories but often complicated by polyploidy, an overrepresented condition in remote island floras. We used a phylogenomic approach to study the origin of subgenomes of the tetraploid Hawaiian silversword alliance and advance ...
