Mathematical analysis of a model for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) endemicity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2018
The objective of this paper is to present a mathematical model formulated to investigate the dynamics of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The disease free equilibrium of the model was found to be locally and globally asymptotically stable.

Conceptualising quality early childhood education: Learning from young children in Brazil and South Africa through creative and play‐based methods

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Early childhood has increasingly been acknowledged as a vital time for all children. Inclusive and quality education is part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with the further specification that all children have access to quality pre‐primary education.

Asymptotic analysis of endemic equilibrium to a brucellosis model

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2019
Brucellosis is one of the worlds major infectious and contagious bacterial disease. In order to study different types of brucellosis transmission models among sheep, we propose a deterministic model to investigate the transmission dynamics of brucellosis with the flock of sheep divided into basic ewes and other sheep.

The Unique Amphipoda and Tanaidacea (Crustacea: Peracarida) Associated With the Brown Algae Dictyota sp. From the Oceanic Trindade Island, Southwestern Atlantic, With Biogeographic and Phylogenetic Insights

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
Oceanic islands are known by their unique evolutionary histories and high endemicity caused by isolation. This is the first survey on the biodiversity of Peracarida from Trindade Island, a volcanic island located about 1,160 km off the Brazilian coast ...

Areas of endemism of Jamaica: inferences from Parsimony Analysis of Endemism based on amphibian and reptile distributions [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeographia – The Journal of Integrative Biogeography, 2021
Islands represent interesting biogeographic features often defined by unique and dynamic geological and biological components. Such systems serve as examples of the basic fundamental units of biogeographical analyses: areas of endemism. The island of Jamaica is recognized as possessing a unique biota with a large number of herpetofauna species ...

Forecast of acute respiratory infections: expected nonepidemic mobidity in Cuba

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1992
A forecast of nonepidemic morbidity due to acute respiratory infections were carry out by using time series analysis. The data consisted of the weekly reports of medical patient consultation from ambulatory facilities from the whole country. A version of

Parsimony analysis of endemicity and analysis of endemicity: A fair comparison

open access: yesSystematics and Biodiversity, 2015
Parsimony Analysis of Endemicity (PAE) has been compared with other methods regarding its performance to identify areas of endemism. It is frequently compared with the Analysis of Endemicity (AE), which seems to perform better than PAE to identify these areas.

Analysis of the distribution of endemic and rare arthropods in high endemism areas of Algarve-South Portugal [PDF]

open access: yesPedobiologia, 2000
Summary The study of several arthropod groups in high endemism areas (HEA) of Algarve, the Southernmost province of Portugal, has revealed endemic species and species not yet recorded for the Portuguese fauna. The list includes 3 species of Isopoda endemic to Algarve, to Portugal or to the Iberian Peninsula, 2 species new to Portugal and 2 species ...

Modelling the effect of malaria endemicity on spatial variations in childhood fever, diarrhoea and pneumonia in Malawi

open access: yesInternational Journal of Health Geographics, 2007
Background Co-morbidity with conditions such as fever, diarrhoea and pneumonia is a common phenomenon in tropical Africa. However, little is known about geographical overlaps in these illnesses.
