Climate‐driven shifts in leaf senescence are greater for boreal species than temperate species in the Acadian Forest region in contrast to leaf emergence shifts

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
By the end of the 21st century under high emissions, leaf senescence and the length of the leafing period for temperate species such as red maple (Acer rubrum) may diverge from boreal tree species in the Acadian Forest Region. Phenocams are powerful monitoring tools that aid in developing robust and widely applicable process‐based models of leaf ...

GA3 is superior to GA4 in promoting bud endodormancy release in tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa) and their potential working mechanism

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2021
Sufficient low temperature accumulation is the key strategy to break bud dormancy and promote subsequent flowering in tree peony anti-season culturing production.

Lipase Activity during Endodormancy in Leaf Buds of Apple [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, 1991
Lipase activity was studied during endodormancy in low-chilling-requiring `Anna' and high-chilling-requiring `Northern Spy' apples (Malus domestica Borkh.). Lipase activity greatly increased in bud axes when the chilling requirement of buds was almost satisfied regardless of the absolute chilling needed.

Identification of early and late flowering time candidate genes in endodormant and ecodormant almond flower buds [PDF]

open access: yesTree Physiology, 2020
AbstractFlower bud dormancy in temperate fruit tree species, such as almond [Prunus dulcis (Mill.) D.A. Webb], is a survival mechanism that ensures that flowering will occur under suitable weather conditions for successful flower development, pollination and fruit set.

Chilling Requirement Validation and Physiological and Molecular Responses of the Bud Endodormancy Release in Paeonia lactiflora ‘Meiju’

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2021
The introduction of herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) in low-latitude areas is of great significance to expand the landscape application of this world-famous ornamental. With the hazards of climate warming, warm winters occurs frequently, which

Endodormancy Release Can Be Modulated by the GA4-GID1c-DELLA2 Module in Peach Leaf Buds

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Gibberellin (GA) plays a key role in the release of bud dormancy and the GA receptor GID1 (GIBBERELLIN INSENSITIVE DWARF1) and DELLA protein are the GA signaling parts, but the molecular mechanism of GA-GID1-DELLA module regulating leaf bud dormancy in ...

Hydrogen Peroxide Increases during Endodormancy and Decreases during Budbreak in Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) Buds

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2021
Changes in the level of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a good indicator to monitor fluctuations in cellular metabolism and in the stress responses. In this study, the changes in H2O2 content during bud endodormancy (ED) and budbreak were analysed in ...

Chilling of Endodormant Peach Propagules: II. Initial Seedling Growth [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, 1993
We observed initial peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] seedling growth after endodormant (ED) seeds (`Johnson Elberta') had been stratified for five durations (20 to 60 days) at eight constant temperatures (0 to 18C). Seedling growth increased and became more normal when seeds were stratified for longer durations at chilling temperatures ...

Endodormancy release in Norway spruce grafts representing trees of different ages

open access: yesTree Physiology, 2020
AbstractStudies addressing endodormancy release in adult trees are usually carried out using twigs detached from the trees in the experiments. Potential problems caused by cutting the root–shoot connection when detaching the twigs can be avoided by using grafts as the experimental material. We studied the effects of chilling on the endodormancy release

Investigating the effect of plant growth regulators in the endodormancy release in apricot by a metabolomic approach

open access: yesJournal of Plant Growth Regulation
Endodormancy is one of the most studied physiological processes in perennial plants like apricot. This period is vital both for the tree survival against the adverse climatic conditions of winter and for obtaining a proper flowering and fruit set.
