Post-traumatic vancomycin-resistant enterococcal endophthalmitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The emergence of antibiotic-resistant organisms among severe ocular infections is of grave concern. We describe the first reported case of vancomycin-resistant enterococcal endophthalmitis following ocular trauma, uniquely caused by Enterococcus ...

Postpartum endogenous Candida endophthalmitis

open access: yesMiddle East African Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
Postpartum endogenous fungal endophthalmitis in otherwise healthy females is extremely rare disease. We report a case of a 25-year-old female patient referred with a history of decreased vision in her right eye 1 month after uncomplicated vaginal delivery. She presented with multifocal chorioretinal infiltrates.

Tuberculous Endophthalmitis With Phthisis Bulbi: A Diagnostic Delay Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Tuberculous endophthalmitis should be prioritized in differential diagnosis for unexplained endophthalmitis in TB‐endemic regions; early systemic evaluation, timely pars plana vitrectomy, and adjunctive corticosteroids are crucial to prevent phthisis bulbi, though evidence for some interventions remains limited.

Prostatic abscess Metastasis: A case report of an unusual complication

open access: yesUrology Case Reports, 2023
Endogenous endophthalmitis, a rare and severe ocular infection, is typically associated with endogenous infections that reach the eye, while prostatic abscesses pose clinical challenges and are more common in immunocompromised patients. We present a case

Bacillus cereus Induces Necroptosis in Microglia via the RIPK1/3‐MLKL Pathway

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
Bacillus cereus induces necroptosis in murine/human microglia via the RIPK1/3‐MLKL pathway, triggering inflammatory cytokine release—uncovering a new pathogenic mechanism for its severe ocular infection. ABSTRACT Bacillus cereus endophthalmitis is a rapidly progressing intraocular infection that often results in poor visual outcomes due to extensive ...

Antibacterial responses of retinal Müller glia: production of antimicrobial peptides, oxidative burst and phagocytosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: We have previously shown that, in response to microbial infection, activated Müller glia secrete inflammatory cytokines/chemokines and exhibit antimicrobial properties.

Endogene Candida-Endophthalmitis

open access: yesDie Ophthalmologie

Defect‐Rich 2D Layered Double Hydroxides Enhance Sonodynamic Antibacterial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 18, 27 March 2026.
This study develops defect‐rich ultrathin ZnCuW‐LDH nanosheets (DR‐ZnCuW‐LDH) via acid etching. DR‐ZnCuW‐LDH exhibits fourfold enhanced US‐triggered ROS production due to oxygen defects and electronic modulation, demonstrating potent antibacterial efficacy in vitro/vivo.
