Endogenous viral elements in algal genomes

Acta Oceanologica Sinica, 2014
Endogenous viral elements (EVEs) are host-genomic fragments originated from viral genomes. They have been found universally in animal and plant genomes. Here we carried out a systematic screening and analysis of EVEs in algal genomes and found that EVEs commonly exist in algal genomes.

Transposable element repression using piRNAs, and its relevance to endogenous viral elements (EVEs) and immunity in insects

Current Opinion in Insect Science, 2022
The piRNA system controls transposable element (TE) mobility by transcriptional gene silencing and post-transcriptional gene silencing. Dispersed in insect genomes, piRNA clusters contain TE copies, from which they produce piRNAs (specific small RNAs).

Endogenous viral elements integrated into the genome of the soybean aphid, Aphis glycines

Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2020
Sequence analysis of the genomic DNA isolated from four biotypes of the soybean aphid, Aphis glycines (AG), revealed that in addition to the commonly observed retrovirus-related retrotransposons, viral sequences derived from multiple RNA and DNA viruses have integrated into the genome.

A rapid PCR‐based test for the endogenous viral element ev3 of chickens

Animal Genetics, 1995
SummaryA short fragment of chicken genomic DNA encompassing the insertion site of the endogenous avian leucosis viral element ev3 was isolated using the inverse polymerase chain reaction (inverse PCR) technique. The nucleotide sequence of the unoccupied site was used to design PCR primers that can be used to unambiguously determine the genetic status ...
