Endogenous viral elements: evolution and impact.
Virologie (Montrouge, France)Endogenous viruses are viral genomes that became integrated into the germline genome of their hosts and vertically inherited, from generation to generation, in host populations. Recent advances in genome sequencing have triggered the discovery of many non-retroviral endogenous viruses, showing that all types of eukaryotic viruses can become endogenous.

PARVOVIRUS CAPSID STRUCTURES, LIGAND BINDING INTERACTIONS, AND ENDOGENOUS VIRAL ELEMENTS
2018Parvoviruses are among the simplest of viruses, with capsids composed of variants of a single structural protein. These capsids mediate many of the processes required for infection and are remarkably stable. However, antibody binding or mutations to the capsid can disrupt these processes and block infection. This dissertation discusses mutations to the

Previous work has shown that non-retroviral endogenous viral elements (EVE) are common in crustaceans, including penaeid shrimp. So far, they have been reported for infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) and white spot syndrome virus (WSSV).

Infective endogenous viral elements are tightly controlled by RNA silencing pathways in banana
2021To protect genome integrity against invasive nucleic acids, most eukaryotic organisms have evolved gene silencing mechanisms, often involving small interfering RNAs (siRNAs). Endogenous banana streak virus (eBSV) integrants derived from three distinct species, present in Musa balbisiana (B) but not Musa acuminata (A) banana genomes are able to ...
