Endolichenic Fungi in Kumaun Himalaya: A Case Study
2015Endolichenic fungi represent an important ecological group of species that form associations with lichens, and to extend the knowledge of their diversity within macrolichens, we isolated and identified the endolichenic fungi from some healthy macrolichens of Kumaun Himalaya.

Endolichenic Fungi: A Hidden Reservoir of Next Generation Biopharmaceuticals
Trends in Biotechnology, 2017Endolichenic fungi (ELF) offer an opportunity to discover emerging natural drugs. ELF are promising bioresources given their ability to produce bioactive metabolites that represent unique and diverse structural classes. Here, we assess the potential of recent technologies to provide insight into the chemical diversity of ELF for biopharmaceutical ...

Diversity and bioactivity of endolichenic fungi in Usnea lichens of the Philippines.
Endolichenic fungi (ELF; asymptomatic microorganisms living inside healthy lichen thalli) were isolated from three Usnea species, namely U. baileyi, U. bismolliuscula and U. pectinata, collected near the town of Sagada, Philippines. A total of 101 ELF were recovered representing 12 genera (classes Sordariomycetes and Eurotiomycetes), with the genera ...

Endolichenic fungi within 17 lichen species in the area near Ny-Ålesund (Svalbard, High Arctic) were studied by a culture-based method. The 247 fungal isolates were obtained from 2712 lichen thallus segments. The colonization rate of endolichenic fungi ranged from 1.6 to 26.5 %, respectively.

Methods for Identification of Endolichenic Fungi
Endolichenic Fungi: Present and Future Trends, 2019Various estimates about the fungal diversity suggest that there is an immense diversity of fungi which is yet to be discovered. To report the correct number of fungal diversity, first one has to isolate and identify them correctly from their host/substrate. To identify the fungi there are different ways available i.e.

Endolichenic Fungi: A Case Study from Uttarakhand
Endolichenic Fungi: Present and Future Trends, 2019Uttarakhand have prolific lichen diversity and a lot of studies regarding lichen diversity were preformed but studies on endolichenic fungi started in the recent past not only in Uttarakhand but in India also. The authors started working on endolichenic fungi in the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand.

Endolichenic fungi in lichens of Champawat district, Uttarakhand, northern India
Mycological Progress, 2017Eleven lichen species belonging to five families (two fruticose and nine foliose) growing on the bark of Quercus leucotrichophora trees from four forests of Champawat district, Uttarakhand state, northern India were studied for their endolichenic fungal assemblage.

Methods for Isolation of Endolichenic Fungi and their Secondary Metabolites
Endolichenic Fungi: Present and Future Trends, 2019Lichens are the ecological playground for many fungi, which can be categorized on the basis of their role inside the thallus, e.g. fungus which is in true symbiotic association with the algal partner, called mycobiont; fungi which are living inside the thallus in asymptomatic hyphal form and do not produce any reproductive bodies, called endolichenic ...

The objective of this study was to explore the diversity of endolichenic fungi from Nephroma laevigatum and to investigate their antiproliferative and antibiofilm potential.Forty-six isolates were obtained and identified by DNA barcoding. They belonged to genera Nemania, Daldinia, Peziza and Coniochaeta.

Endolichenic Fungi: A Promising Source for Novel Bioactive Compounds
Endolichenic Fungi: Present and Future Trends, 2019A large proportion of the drugs available in market are either of plant or microbial origin. Microbes produce various secondary metabolites and these metabolites turned out to be biologically active. Endophytic fungi are considered to be more creative in case of producing novel secondary metabolites. Lichens also harbor endophytes i.e.
