Abstract Objective To describe and assess the usefulness of delayed postcontrast three‐dimensional fluid‐attenuated inversion recovery (3D‐FLAIR) sequences on 3‐Tesla (3 T) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients presenting with acute inner ear complications after stapes surgery. Study Design Case series.

Tomography of the vestibular aqueduct in ear disease [PDF]
A controversy exists concerning whether or not roentgenographic narrowing or nonvisualization of the vestibular aqueduct is a specific sign for Meniere's disease. Of 190 ears that were evaluated, abnormal aqueducts were seen in 42.9% of ears with Meniere'

Inner Ear Immunity and Audio‐Vestibular Dysfunction
Diagram of the immune response of the inner ear and associated damage. ABSTRACT The inner ear is a critical sensory organ regulated by the immune system to maintain balance and respond to external stimuli. Immune cells like macrophages, lymphocytes, neutrophils, and natural killer cells play important roles in inner ear immunity. Inflammatory mediators,

A comparative study distinguishing histopathologic patterns of inner ear changes between meningogenic and otogenic routes in meningitis cases. Otogenic cases displayed a higher prevalence of changes in the spiral ligament and signs of early ossification, whereas meningogenic cases associated with a higher degree of vestibular damage.

Strial capillary permeability studied with fluorescent tracers in inbred mice [PDF]
The stria vascularis generates the endocochlear potential (EP), which relies on the maintenance of ionic boundaries. Strial and spiral ligament capillary permeability to FITC-conjugated dextrans and other tracers was assessed in mice of different strains,

Dissociation of Caloric and Video Head Impulse Tests in Patients With Delayed Endolymphatic Hydrops
Delayed endolymphatic hydrops (DEH) represents a rare clinical entity characterized by intermittent vertigo attacks mimicking those of Ménière's disease (MD) in a patient with a prior sensorineural hearing loss.

In the numerical analysis, solving a three‐dimensional fluid–structure interaction problem, resonant frequencies of the trapezoidal membrane are evaluated. Using the modified elastic modulus for the membrane, the vibration modes and resonant frequencies in liquids are in good agreement with experimental results.

Extreme sensitivity of hearing to decreases of ICP in Menière's disease [PDF]
We report the case of a Menière's disease patient affected by normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) who presented a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure-dependent hearing impairment after shunting.
