The Vascular Supply of the Endolymphatic Sac
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1979The vascular anatomy of the endolymphatic sac in guinea pigs was examined following intravascular injection of silicone rubber (Microfil). Methacrylate resin of low viscosity (Mercox) was used to obtain vascular corrosion casts for scanning electron microscopy, which allowed more accurate differentiation between arteries and veins.

Drug Permeability of the Endolymphatic SAC
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1987Intravenously injected kanamycin sulfate (KM) was located in the endolymphatic sac (ES) of guinea pigs by an immunohistologic method. Kanamycin sulfate had passed through the capillaries in the subepithelial layer and reached the epithelial layer as early as 1 minute after injection.

Modulation of the Endolymphatic Sac Function
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1991A method for inducing a partial dysfunction of the endolymphatic sac and its effect was investigated. Acetazolamide as well as amiloride caused collapse of the lateral intercellular spaces in the endolymphatic sac epithelium and a subsequent mild endolymphatic hydrops. These changes indicate a decreased absorption rate of endolymph in the endolymphatic

Effects of endolymphatic sac decompression surgery on endolymphatic hydrops
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2013The present findings suggest that complete control of vertigo after endolymphatic sac decompression surgery (ESDS) does not always depend on improved vestibular function or reduced endolymphatic hydrops. Vertigo control is, however, associated with hearing stability.Among surgical treatments for intractable Meniere's disease, ESDS is performed to ...

The endolymphatic sac lies in the bony niche of the posterior surface of the pyramid. It partly touches the dura mater of the posterior fossa. The endolymphatic sac communicates with the endolymphatic system through the endolymphatic duct. The epithelia of the sac are either squamous cell or cuboidal cell.

The endolymphatic sac in the Mondini disorder
Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1985The endolymphatic sacs are described in temporal bone specimens from a 31-year-old man with bilateral Mondini disorder. The ducts and sacs are thin-walled, cyst-like structures with complete absence of loose vascular perisac tissue, and are directly apposed to the bone of the vestibular aqueduct.

Decompression and Drainage of the Endolymphatic Sac
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1973This is a brief statement of the principles underlying the concept of opening the endolymphatic sac, which is presented from the standpoints of technique, pathogenesis, and selection for surgery according to the type of vertigo. Opening the endolymphatic sac is only indicated when the diagnosis of typical Meniere's disease is certain, ie, when attacks
