Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma

American Journal of Cancer, 2004
Uterine sarcomas comprise 2–3% of all uterine malignancies. Tumors in this category are, in order of decreasing incidence, carcinosarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, endometrial stromal sarcoma, and adenosarcoma. Endometrial stromal sarcomas are divided into low- and high-grade according to tumor cell morphology and mitotic rate.

Transition of endometrial stromal sarcoma into high-grade sarcoma

Gynecologic Oncology, 2006
Endometrial stromal sarcoma typically is of low grade and hormone-sensitive. Although these characteristics result in an indolent behavior, little data are available on the evolution over time.We report on two cases where microscopic and immunohistochemic assessment of the tumor on several occasions during 8 and 25 years of follow up enabled us to ...

Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma Arising from Endometriosis

Journal of Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Disorders, 2017
The malignant transformation of endometriosis is a very uncommon event but can occur in 0.7% to 1% of all cases. Any histological type of tumor found in the endometrium might also occur in endometriosis. Most malignant tumors that originate from endometriosis are endometrioid adenocarcinomas and also clear-cell type carcinomas.
